It seems to appear at the end of nearly episode for the slightest thing these days.

Corrie and Hollyoaks have been known to do this kind of thing, but not on such a regular basis as EE.

I don't think so. They use it for the 'hard-hitting' stories if you get what I mean. I remember a time when Hollyoaks had an advice line after every episode even if the problem was a bad hair day! Don't really see ITV soaps doing it as often as Hollyoaks or EastEnders though.

I think they should create a Distress Action Line for those of us who are left suffering at the end of another appalling EE ep everyday.

I have mixed emotions about this. I think the Action Line is a very important service, and doubtless many people have found it very useful across the years. However, the BBC publicise it now with such frequency at the end of EE that it's become a bit of a joke or cliche, which undermines the work it does.

Well while I appreciate Tony has just died, I thought it was ridiculous they used it the other day for Whitney's storyline. All she did was argue with Tyler and shag Joey. I know the advertisement was in relation to the Tony aspect of the story, but it wasn't prominent enough to warrant it.

To be honest, a lot of the time they probably use it to cover their backs in case some idiot complains

Yeah, well people do seem to complain over the slightest thing these days.
