Just a heads up the built in video editor on the PS3 can edit humax foxsat TS files and automatically converts the format to MP4.There appears to be a time limit on the length of file it will edit, so films are a no - no. The editor is crap, but is good enough for editing adverts out of a 30 minute recording

The time limit is probably down to the 4GB file size limit imposed by FAT32 drives.

The PS3 only supports FAT32 drives. The max file size is 4GB. For longer recordings more than one file is needed.

If you really need to convert the Foxsat mpeg2 transport stream files to mpeg4 it's a lot easier to do it on a PC. Apart from making the files a bit smaller why do you need to convert them ?

If you want to use the pS3 to play back Foxsat files why not stream them to the PS3 using a DLNA server.

eg

Alternatively install the Custom Firmware and one of the DLNA servers on the Foxsat and play them back remotely using the PS3.
