She didn't do it on purpose, she snuck out thinking they would be long gone. As she came out they saw her and she froze in horror after finding out Cameron Murray was a killer. She panicked and made the daft choice to go in her car and speed off.

okay and the death scene, his palm on her face suffocated her and she couldn't defend herself due to being paralysed?

Yeah presumably so. She could barely talk and the crash was devastating. He did her a favor really in a way, I don't think she would have felt anything neck down for the rest of her life.

Yes and he covered her nose, defenseless.

Same reason people leave their mobile phone on the kitchen table when they are having an affair

Thanks! I hope he goes to the police with it though, no doubt he will probably confront Cameron with it and end up like Gennie!

I think that when Cameron is eventually found out for his shocking misdeeds, he will try to cover up Gennie's death even further by saying she pleaded with him to end her life there and then due to the extent of her injuries sustained in the crash - unless the dictaphone has picked up everything and all is revealed otherwise. To have him just die and not pay the consequences would be too easy and an extremely lame ending to a terminable storyline, the character and the viewers deserve a satisfactory pay off. Personally, I think Emmerdale wrongly jumped onto the Corrie bandwagon by turning a seemingly normal character into a murdering psycho. Having said that, Gennie's untimely shocking death has been the highlight of the storyline for me with echoes of Maxine Peacock's shock culling at the hands of Richard Hillman, extremely dark but compelling viewing.

I agree but Hollyoaks did the best job with Silas Blissett, his murdering of Rae with very disturbing to watch.

I have heard! I wasn't actually watching the show at the time and I have to be honest with you, although I am an avid viewer again now I'd abandoned it during that era. I only returned in time to see Silas get his comeuppance. I can't bring myself to watch it as I previously liked the character of Rae.

Daily motion has the episode of her murder but it was shocking to see especially as she was never the intended target and just got upset and had a rant about not caring about men's feelings. I doubt she even meant it.

The soaps are always going for the shock factor these days! Although I knew Sian was leaving the show, I am still reeling from Gennie's murder as I liked her and didn't think she was going just yet!

Yes I agree with the last bit you said, I thought she had months left! Plus I always knew Cameron Murray would kill her so I weren't shocked. I was more shocked at HOW he did it after she was half dead already.

Me too. We were sort of given the impression that he would finish her off by bludgeoning her as he did Carl King, so the asphyxiation was a surprising and shocking curve ball. Emmerdale clearly went for maximum impact in this episode and they certainly got it!

Why did Gennie let Cameron and Debbie see her leave the house?

Off the top of my head, I would guess it was in the script.

Pathetic, lazy, cheap scriptwriting.

The whole thing was contrived. When Zak came knocking at the front door, she would have yelled the place down to attract his attention.

think it was Andy at the door. Gennie should have left via the backdoor when the coast was clear. I agree it was a dark story how they did it which stays with you days after. well done ED

Andy and Katie you mean?

I know... but she was numb with fear. It seemed like the stupidest thing to do to jump into a car and speed off when you're a new driver - but she was terrified with her head swimming, so I suppose we're meant to think she wanted to get as far away from him as she could to think about what to do for the best.... and her car was the only possible way to do that. You don't know what you'd do under that amount of stress; she would have had pumping adrenaline beyond anything else, distorting the ability to think rationally.

I'd like to think if it'd have been me in real life I'd have run screaming like a maniac through the village to attract as much attention as I could... and straight into the pub!

No, you would have got into a car, alone, and driven dangerously to an unspecified location where there would be nobody to help you at all.

you don't always react as you 'should' when you're terrified surely? People panic and lose their heads. If you're lucky adrenalin kicks in and you can think fairly clearly and focus on surviving. I would think in a way it's a bit like interview or driving test nerves. You know what you should do, and sometimes you can use the nerves to your advantage, but other times they take over.

When you're terrified you don't think straight. I liked the episode. I didn't want it to end and couldn't wait for the next one.
