Which soap has the best acting?
Every soap has their standout actors and weak actors, but which of the following soaps in the poll (which will be added shortly) has the best/strongest all-round acting?

I really think it is hard to say since every soap has their wonderful actors and their weak links.
For example, Corrie: Strong: Haley, Roy, Sylvia Weak: Tracey, Sophie, Jenna, Fiz I'm sure this applies to most other soaps as well. |

Agreed with above. All have their fair share of good and bad.

It's easily Eastenders when they get given a decent script and a meaty plot line.

definitely Emmerdale. There's a few bad ones, but overall it's an extremely strong cast - with the likes of Natalie Robb, Jeff Hordley, Emma Atkins, Nicola Wheeler, Zoe Henry and John Middleton to name but a few. Corrie has some outstanding people too -Peter and Hayley spring to mind.

I voted corrie it has a great lot of great actors. Alison King (Carla), Chris Gasgoyne (Peter) ,Julie hesmonghalgh (Hayley), Stephanie Cole (Sylvia) , Jane Danson (Leanne) and David Neilson (Roy) are the best.

As an ensemble cast I'd have to go with Emmerdale. They are all OK to excellent whereas with EastEnders and Corrie I'd say there are some outstanding performers but there are also some pretty dire ones which spoil the effect! So it's ED for me as they're the most consistent in my view.

I voted Emmerdale. Corrie has some really god actors but crap story lines which makes the actors look rubbish (lately any way). On the whole Emmerdale storylines are strong and the scripts are pretty good too (IMO anyway)

I voted for Emmerdale. I think that corrie has the strongest actors, but that there are also some very weak ones, while Emmerdale doesn't really have any weak links, they are all average or better

I said Hollyoaks, only a handful of the current cast (James Atherton, Danny Mac, the guy who plays Vincent, Browning) are weak actors, they also have a lot of really strong actors (Jessica Fox, Anna Shaffer, Stephanie Davis, Ashley Taylor-Dawson, Jimmy McKenna, Nick Pickard, Kieron Richardson, Jazmine Franks, Helen Pearson, James Sutton, Nicole Barber-Lane, Anna Passey, Jeremy Sheffield, Saskia Wickham, Alex Fletcher, Steph Waring).

![]() Come on Lotty, be honest here! A lot of the actors in ED have been consistently slammed by fm's for being wooden or plain awful. In EE it's generally been Joey, Tyler and now the dreadful Dexter. ED has the unbelievably bad Sean and Robbie. Then there's Ali. Bob. Rachel. Declan. Katie. Megan. Sandy. Andy. Debbie get slaughtered but also praised. Dom. Gemma. Bernice. Jai. Rishi. Cameron. Adam. I would add the appalling, gurning Dan to that list. All of them get stick. |

Emmerdale by far. Emma Atkins, Dominic Brunt, Zoe Henry, Jeff Hordley, Charley Webb, Nicola Wheeler, Jane Cox, Steve Halliwell, Chelsea Halfpenny, Chris Chittell, Charlie Hardwick, Lesley Dunlop, Liam Fox, Chris Bisson, Lucy Pargeter, Natalie Anderson, Charlotte Bellamy, John Middleton... all amazing when given the chance to shine!

But I'm sure that opinions are equally divided on the Hollyoaks, Eastenders and Corrie threads, and I'd like to bet that some of the people on here praising 'their' soaps' actors are equally critical of individual cast members. We do like to moan on here after all. ![]() I can't speak for Lotty but I would say that on the whole the emmerdale cast is stronger certainly than coronation street ( I haven't seen the other two in a while). Emmerdale has in general (including some of the ones that you mentioned IMO) a good average to very strong cast, whilst Corrie has many that are very strong but too many that are appalling. |

For me its Corrie, though I would put Emmerdale in second place.
The likes of: Alison King (Carla), Chris Gascoyne (Peter), Jane Danson (Leanne), Julie Hes (Hayley), David Neilson (Roy), Paula Lane (Kylie) are truly exemplary. I agree that Corrie does have more than its fair share of deadwood though. |

Glenda: Hollyoaks was my fav soap at onetime, but i never rated the acting all that highly even then.
Merci is my alltime fav Hollyoaks female, but the acting isn't all that. Warren is second only to Silas, but again, the acting wasn't that great. I don't watch soaps for great, or even good acting! It's only when they reach offensively bad standards ,like Sean in ED, that it becomes a problem for me. |

Really Chris Bisson has to be one on the weaker actors on ED .
Anything 'serious' and he puts on his open mouthed Goldfish expression. |

This is difficult, as each soap has there good and bad actors, and it really is a subjective thing. Had this poll appeared before the Turners and Willises arrived in Neighbours, I would have said Neighbours for sure.
The show has some awesome actors in: Jackie Woodburne (Susan), Alan Fletcher (Karl), Stefan Dennis (Paul), Ryan Moloney (Toadie), Eve Morey (Sonya), Scott Major (Lucas), Alin Sumarwata (Vanessa), Colette Mann (Sheila), Tom Oliver (Lou), Chris Milligan (Kyle), James Mason (Chris), Rebekah Elmaloglou (Terese), and Kate Kendall (Lauren), and Morgan Baker (Callum) are decent. Taylor Glockner (Mason) is awful - the worst ever male since the days of Ned Parker. |

Last time I saw Eastenders there was a truly awful actor who was dating Heather (not the best herself) - he was just dire, and I'm sure if I watched it there would be more. Coronation St has Fizz, Sean, Steve, Sophie, Ken, Deirdre, Gail, Jason, the bloke who runs the factory, the awful Tracy,.
Ss for those in Corrie. I don't watch it these days, but i do agree about Fizz, Sean (really hated him) Gail, Sophie and gurning Steve, though i have to admit i did like him as a character. Ken and Deidre were fine years ago, and i never had a problem with Jason., who i saw as just an average kind of lad. I know i'm in a tiny minority, but Tracey/Kate Ford i loved! She's so bad that she's good! I just loved Kate's lovely, naughty, smiley face. It looks like she's enjoying herself, and i always warm to people like that. |

Have to go with Corrie because it has a very strong cast overall and with actors like Stephanie Cole, Alison King, Chris Gascoigne, David Neilson and Julie Hes etc, the other soaps don't even come close in terms of acting / character portrayal, 'dramatic performances' and consistency.
