First off, and for this to work, my idea would be to leave the well-known Slater girls in the past and bring in Belinda Slater, possibly recast. I believe Belinda is more or less a blank slate who could be seamlessly integrated into Walford given that Kat is her sister.

The basis of her arrival would be coming to Kat for help when her rich husband leaves her for a younger model. She would bring with her a daughter and her nanny.

The first storyline would see Belinda's divorce battle which will culminate with her receiving a large sum of money in the settlement. However, instead of leaving Walford once her settlement comes through (as she had originally planned), she instead decides to stick around having found romance with one of the locals, perhaps David Wicks. She then buys the Vic and the new Slater women - Kat, Belinda, her daughter, and the nanny - move in, much to the dismay of Alfie who is forced to find a new home elsewhere.

Also, Little Mo would come back with the incentive of living in the Vic again.

I think it's about time the Slaters were brought back to their original format; a family of tight-knit strong females, and I think this would be a great way to go about it without having to bring in already tired, past Slater characters. Who agrees?

Nah, not for me. I'd axe Kalfie, and then just start afresh with a brand new family, and therefore a new direction for the show

I think they should scrap all the Moons/Slaters and bring in a new family altogether. They've had their day.

I disagree. I think Kalfie is disposable. I think Alfie is disposable. But I think Kat still has a place in the show and I believe she works better within a female-orientated family as opposed to aimlessly strolling the Square as she seems to be doing at the moment.

I'm fed up of seeing her baps every time she's on screen, she needs to go and take right said fred with her.

I, too, would welcome a new family but I don't know why that should mean an already well-known family shouldn't be reconstructed.

I don't mind the slatters being phased out, there is only Kat left anyway. They have been in for 13 years now, more than long enough. EE needs to put a brake on brining in relatives of existing characters all the time and bring in new families and characters. Why are they so reluctant to bring in new families? Its not that often we get one is it?

Can't stand Kalfie. I won't be demanding an axing, but I can hope...and I hope that both and Kalfie are sent packing.

Tyler's leaving, as are Jean Michael. No sign of any of Kat's relatives returning, Nothing against Mo Harris but she's a recurring character now. Neither Kat nor Alfie have any real reason to stay. In fact they never should've come back - the new Moons could've worked independently as an entirely new family.

Oops, I meant to put Big Mo as in Mo Harris, not Little Mo. I wouldn't want Little Mo back in any scenario whereas I love Big Mo so I'm not sure how I mixed the two up.

I'd like The Slaters at the forefront again, but I'm not sure of having Belinda, possibly the weakest member of the family in terms of character, being the person who does that.

I think it's unfair to say she's the weakest when we've only ever seen a couple of episodes with her as opposed to a ton with the other Slaters. The reason I would introduce Belinda is because she's more or less a new character. We know she married rich and for that reason is snobbish in comparison to the rest of the Slaters but other than that little else is known of her. What we did learn when she appeared a few years back that is that she was going through marital problems - probably as a direct result of only marrying someone for money - as seen in her scenes with Gary. I would use this as a starting point in bringing her back post the breakdown of her marriage. On the whole, I think we know enough about her to build a thorough character around but not too much, as with the Slaters we already know, to be bored of shortly after a return.

Hmm, that's true. It would be fun to see her having to find her working class roots again.

I think Kat still has a place in the show. Alfie on the other hand...

The Slater's have kind have had their day though. The production team are probably best focusing on delivering a new family.

I don't think the writers are too fussed with those kind of details. They had no problem bringing Sharon back to the place where her Dad, brother/husband and fiance all died and thay have no problem bringing Ronnie back to the place where all her kids died as well as her father who raped her. Also Mo wouldnt be a social pariah like Ronnie should be on her return and as well as that Mo stuck around for a good while after she was raped and still worked in the place she was raped so she probobaly would come back.
