I noticed that BT wont let you have the extra channels unless you are wired to the hub. I ignored it as my YouView box is in the bedroom and connected by 500Mbit HomePlugs and unsurprisingly it works perfect.

(My PC to the hub gets 75Mbit over the Homeplugs)

just phoned up and ordered the new channels .
he said it will take 24 hours for them to activate , is this true or is it upto 24 hours ?

only just put phone down and when selecting one of the new channels now i am taken to the "setup this channel" page which then says i need to subscribe .

i am hard wired connected too even though i read previously you don't need to be .

Those channels are still on my Youview box but with the recent revamp of Eurosport Player I am more inclined than ever to do nothing about BT TV until next February when hopefully they will have sorted out these teething problems.

My retail box got a minor update on 31st July as it only tane 10 seconds to download and a min or so for the box to reboot and its no running software version V4.20.0. Yet the BT Sport channels and extra channels now show up. I emailed BT about getting the extra channels as there online ordering was telling me they would send out a BT Vision + box that I dont need or want.

Darren
Same with me. It's rubbish, my youview box is connected via the power line adapters and it all works perfectly with the extra 18 channels, sport, sport hd and the hd on demand films. The problem is with the ordering system it insists that you need a new box and a cable saying that your 'old' box will not work and that it must be connected with the cable. I spent 2 hours and 9 minutes on the phone but no one could or would place the order. Sent an email and got it all sorted the next day. They are still going to send me a new box and cable which I don't need but I will not be charged for them

Did they charge you the £49 "Activation Fee" though? Seems to me that the only way to get the extra channels and sport channels activated on my existing Youview box (which already shows them in the EPG) is to pay that £49, to in effect, get a spare box (and spare ethernet cable).

Is it a retail box? If so go here:

If it's a BT box you can change your package here;

If you have a BT Box the second link has an option towards the bottom (in the section with a picture of Charlie Sheen) to add the extra channels.

If you have a retail box I'm guessing that at the moment you have to pick one of the options on the first link, then after the service is activated for BT Sport go back to the second link and add the extra channels.

What I want to know is when will YouView boxes be able to record these multicast channels? That is absolutely critical to me, until then I'll stick with the Vision box.

The same as the rest of us are guessing at the moment. I can wait for now.

The BT Website says within a few weeks of BT Sport launching.. so in that estimate, I assume next week isn't out of the question?

Anyone having a problem with the SyFy channel having the wrong aspect ratio and getting cropped. Other internet channels seem fine on my BT YouView box - just SyFy has the problem.

Would be actually nice to get these new channels. Been trying to sort this out since the day they come on eleven days ago.

I have been passed from pillar to post from BT, loads of phone calls, and no one seems to know what the hell is going on.

Had enough now to tell you the truth as cant get any answers!!

As of this evening all the extra channels have now reapearded on my retail Youview box and the BT Sport channels and ESPN have been turned on. Im also surprised that the HD versions of the channels have been turned on for I never signed up to the HD versions
I will wait a few days before I try and order all the other extra channels just in case the channels disaper again like last time.

noticed last night that you can watch the extra channels while recording 2 things. I know this sounds a bit obvious as they don't use up a tuner but i thought the box might arse a bit but it didn't so the jobs a good'un

Am I being slightly optimistic in thinking that, when we get the software update to enable the recording of the internet channels, we'll be able to record 2 internet channels along with 2 terrestrial at the same time ?

I'd be happy just to be able to record or time shift any single internet channel. Totally sick of the excessive ad breaks.
