In America and Canda the public do not vote anyone out.

Its all down to housemates. In a few evictions time (maybe sooner) the evicted house guests go to the Jury House. The Jury then vote on the winner out of the final few.

I don't know why they choose this method, hopefully someone who has been watching it longer can shed some light.

This is only my 2nd season.

The first season was like the UK, but it was never the kind of cultural phenomenon over here that the public would actually talk about. The ratings were never very good and it was nearly canceled. The main problem was that viewers voted out all the people who created conflict and the people left by the latter half of the season were those who were most boring. They changed the rules in the second season to salvage it, otherwise there probably wouldn't still be a Big Brother US.

whats a Jury House?
The format for deciding the winner of BBUS (and Canada) is completely different to most other countries.

When it gets down to nine housemates, evicted players don't get sent home, but instead are sent to the jury house.

The jury house is usually different every year, but it's usually in some warm tropical location. The evicted houseguests live there together until the final night, and are not allowed any communication with the outside or with their families. They also don't get to watch any footage of the show apart from some very brief clips of competitions and evictions. They don't get to see any strategic discussions or diary room entries.

On the final night, the final two players are then questioned by the jury (now consisting of 7 players) and then those seven players each vote to decide who should win.

The public is never involved in BBUS. The whole MVP thing is pretty much the most impact the public has ever been given!

We never vote to evict anyone ever. We don't even choose the winner.

The current twist has been the best twist so far this year, it's caused great paranoia. The original twist was boring as they all knew Elissa would get it and so it couldn't be anonymous like it needs to be.

Yeah I like the paranoia it has caused as a one off but I think it needs to go back to normal next week.

The jury house, for many years, has been in the Los Angeles area. Early on, they were usually in Mexico. And one year in the Napa Valley.

Twice, the public has had one vote in the jury. Once, in BB8, when they got to vote for "America's Player." Then again in BB11, when one of the jury members (Chima) was tossed out. The public got to vote for that missing jury member.
