The fact they have the nba countdown show (which is a pregame show) suggests we'll be getting the US broadcast

Absolutely delighted with this deal, multi year too so we should even get the start of the season next year instead of wondering where to watch

Good contract win for BT - I would regard NBA as the 2nd most important American sports contract for the UK audience (after NFL).

It also shows that BT are continuing to spend and add content notwithstanding the recent CL rights win. OK, this will have cost peanuts in comparison but it's still something and we don't know whether Sky also bid for it - they may well have done which would have forced the price up a bit.
NBA I would say is 3rd biggest US sport in UK - I would be surprised if the viewing figures beat College Football.

College is not really a different sport. Just standard. NBA is 2nd.

Great news. Been wanting to watch more NBA lately but the only options were Bet365 (appreciated they were free, but the quality was dreadful and wouldn't even go full screen), or league pass (the price of which was ridiculous).

Glad BT have sorted this deal out.

Cannot disagree with you there.
They're showing a very wide range of sporting interest from football to mixed martial arts to US sports too and gave the world series (MLB) BT Sport 1 live coverage for all games, that alone tells me that they're not going to be a part-time player in the ranges of sports.
Great deal for NBA fans, anyone that can moan at this is just moaning for the sake of it IMHO.
And have it on good authority they will be taking the US feeds as they got a rather bad reaction (Much like they got the UFC Manchester live fiasco) and learnt their lesson, not to mess with something that has worked for years!

Apparently, Sky were interested but thats all i know.

Yes I've been impressed with BT's acquiring of sports outside football when they can get them to be honest. I was a bit surprised they didn't get any NFL, although maybe they did bid and were outbid, I find it hard to imagine they weren't interested.

They also showed kickboxing last weekend with the Glory World Series, can't say I'd watched it before then but it was very good - apart from having the HBO boxing commentary on for the first half an hour, though I don't know if that was BT's fault or Glory themselves

Very pleased with this NBA deal as I said earlier, the fact it's a "multi year" deal gives me hope we'll see games right from the beginning of the season from next season instead of fans being forced to buy a league pass.

It looks like the final myth about BT Sport has been demolished.

Myth No 1. Rights inherited from ESPN can't be shown on BT Sport-branded channels despite this being in everyone's interests.
This was soon dispelled when the Bundesliga appeared on BT Sport and the rest followed

Myth No 2. BT Sport will never appear on Virgin Media.
Three-year deal announced 15 August giving BT about £3.50 pm for every XL customer.

Myth No. 3 BT Sport is just a very secondary sports channel like Setanta or ESPN.
Three-year £897m deal for the Champions League and Europa League announced 9 November.

Myth No. 4 BT Sport is not interested in US Sport.
Three-year NBA deal announced 27 November.

Agree with all the above, great news for NBA fans and BT and I think once again proves BT are not in for a short ride, I can see them acquiring more American sport as well.

Does the NBA have a "NBA Tonight" style show like the NHL do on Premier (an NHL Network production) and MLB do on ESPN (an ESPN broadcast from the US)?

Quick glance at the BT schedules and I can't see any listed..

Also worth noting I think that 99% of the matches are on BT Sport, I'd expect ESPN to become BT Sport 3 within time.

Only had BT sport a week, and ive found ive watched more of it, than i do the Sky Channels, until Next Wednesday night when the Ashes kick in again.

I found there Europa League coverage more in depth than ITV coverage, they go through all the half times and stuff, which ITV dont.

Life's a Pitch, i love.

With them getting more football, could they possibly think about doing a Results Service on a Saturday and Midweek.

Because from 2015/16, chances are on Soccer Special on sky, they will be covering League 1 fixtures rather than champions league. And making out the CL dont exist.

And on a Saturday, be competition for Jeff and the boys.

Was shocked how everything is fimed in one studio

They could try, but I doubt it would hurt Soccer Saturday too much. Setanta, ITV and BBC have all tried it at various points with limited success.

Yes, BT Sport has only capacity on DTT channels 58 & 59. Capacity BT formerly used for Sky Sports 1 & 2. But all all BT Sport channels including ESPN are available via IPTV on BT Vision in the rapidly-expanding Infinity broadband areas so should not be an issue for the vast majority of viewers.

Interesting note that Man U vs Newcastle on BT next Saturday is 12:00 to 15:00, not the usual 11:30 to 15:00. No idea if that is because of the mid week games, but worth noting anyway.

Very, very busy week for BT in the next nine days.

Perhaps they've realised that they can't come up with enough decent material to fill 75 minutes of pre-match?

I thought that also.
75 minutes for the UCL final or FA Cup final yes, but an EPL game, unless a HUGE one, like a Merseyside or Manc derby, yes, but a usual one, no.
I found it went on a tad too long, 12noon is about right IMO

That's a bit disappointing - it's 41,000 less than Newcastle v Liverpool and only 4,000 higher than Liverpool v Stoke on the opening day.

It was arguably the biggest BT game of the season so far though only rated 26,000 higher than the average for all BT games up to that point.

Re other above posts - note that the move to a 12pm start time will obviously boost the programme average in future - by approx 10%.

Sky Sports News
Sat 12:00 - Gillette Soccer Saturday: 345,500 (2.9%)
Is that the rating for 12pm to 3pm or 12pm to 6pm?

I think 3pm to 6pm is classified as a separate programme. Also note that the 3pm to 6pm segment is also on SS1 which won't be included in the above even if the figure is 12pm to 6pm which I doubt.

You just beat me to it....I was going to say that must be disappointing considering the quality of the game.
I think it aswell's proves what a bad time slot that is.

On the other hand I think all eyes will be on the figures for their big game tomorrow which will surely have to be over 500k?
It will also give BT a good indication of the sort of figures they could of had if their had bided far more carefully or maybe indeed what they could have at the next round of rights.
