I would expect Spurs v Man Utd to be above 500k tomorrow - it's the most attractive BT game so far.

But I wouldn't regard Sun 12pm as necessarily a better slot than Sat 12.45pm - Sun is better like for like but that may be offset by a 45 mins earlier kick-off.

However the official rating will benefit from a 15 mins shorter intro - ie 60 mins tomorrow vs 75 mins up to now (moving to 45 mins from next Sat).

It's worth noting that a lot of people were paid for the last time before Christmas this week, so they may be preoccupied with Christmas shopping, especially a the time of tomorrow's game.

The idea that Sundays are not as busy as Saturdays in retail is little more than a myth from my experience.

Consequently, I think ratings for Tottenham-Man Utd may not be as impressive as is anticipated.

Sun 1.30pm is a much better slot than Sat 12.45pm and I don't think that can entirely be attributed to the 45mins later KO.

Sat live football ratings are adversely affected by the fact there are far more football fans at or travelling to games - particularly as it's dedicated fans who are most likely to have Pay TV sports subs.

I agree, they will be looking for a decent increase even more so considering it's Man Utd.

Man Utd is usually on Sky so there fans are most likely not BT customers yet, Ratings may be lower because of that. Some Man Utd fans may add it for one month but not a big impact.

That's the 12:00-15:00 segment of Gillette Soccer Saturday.

Maybe in big retail centres. But in my part of a town, many independents exist, and they close on Sunday. Even the independents in town are closed.
Only the big shopping centrel in one nearby town is that busy. Partly as it decrees any new retailer is open when the centre does.

BT can show Man Utd just as many times as any other team.

Sky can only show each team 21 times. So whatever picks Sky makes, BT can pick every team a maximum of 7 times out of at least 17 available to choose from.

So there is no less reason for Man Utd fans to have BT than fans of any other team.

Per ariusuk on the F1 thread (post 827):

"BT aren't even going to be on site for nearly half the season, so interactive options are probably way down the list."

Not the biggest of fans of Steve Gerrard but I have to say I thought he gave a brilliant interview with Clare Balding.

All in all I have to say one of the best show's since it began.

No ticker again & no Mark Halsey! Well done BT Sport, you are improving.

I don't have any issue with Mark Halsey personally, however because he is part of the commentary team it makes the overall commentary disjointed as they keep going over every minor refereeing decision and it almost feels like your eavesdropping on a conversation between the 3 of them on the gantry instead of listening to a commentary of the match!

Good game, great timeslot. A shame (for me anyway ) that Sunday 12pm games aren't on BT Sport more often.

Quite agree and even Owen seemed a little more excited than normal.

Great call by Darke on the Sandro goal infact great commentary all round and have to say having only an hour build up was a vast improvement as well.

There is considerably more live football on BT Sport next week and weekend compared with Sky (as La Liga is on a break and no Scottish games on Sky).

BT have mulitple live games each day throughout the upcoming week Mon-Thu (Serie A/Ligue 1) as well as their 2 midweek Premier League games live Tue/Wed.

Sky Sports have 2 games on next Saturday, 2 Sunday. A quick count for BT Sport next weekend seems there are 5 games live on Friday, 7 Saturday, 10 on Sunday plus more delayed? Must be over 30 games in a week on BT (compared with 5 or 6 on Sky).

I wouldn't mind Mark Halsey in the studio but on comms, its very weird and doesn't flow well at all, perhaps BT ARE finally listening to viewers feedback, shame it takes them so long is all.
Just don't go moaning on the BT forums, they're banning folks

Their biggest game of the season and he wasn't involved seems a little strange but I think it payed dividends as Darke and Owen seemed to get along a lot better, I think much like you he is ok in the studio and the 7.00 slot on a Monday reviewing all the decisions suits him well.

Question re bt sport the keep for 30 days thing and 15 quid activation fee.

If you keep it for a month then get rid I assume they will charge you 15 fee each time you put it back on

BT does, PlusNet doesn't but PlusNet only sells BT Sport as an add-on to its broadband packages. http://www.plus.net/info2/legal/index.html#btSport
