Whilst that is strictly true, wasn't it posted recently, perhaps in the FA Cup thread, that the PL have lost money from UEFA as a direct result of allowing live games to go up against UCL games? Can't remember the details but it was as pathetic and political as you would expect.

I would assume that it is an error - I would be very, very surprised if the Masters was actually on SS4 - not because of OFCOM but because it's an absolutely marquee event which I would not expect Sky to put on SS4.

I doubt OFCOM would intervene - they could do but they've said they would only extend the compulsory regulated wholesale to SS3/4 if Sky moved a material amount of content from SS1/2 - I very much doubt just moving the Masters would be enough to trigger that - especially as Days 3 and 4 are also on BBC.”

I saw it in the ’Golf on Sky’ section of the SS website. As you say, it could just be an error, but it definitely stated SS4.

Yes, that's what it says. All golf seems to be listed as SS4, not just the US Masters.

I like the idea of them moving all of the same sport onto one channel.
It makes it easier to find, like the England cricket being all on SS2 and the Tennis on SS3..
But a royal bitch for VM customers that want it in HD and BT TV & Youview viewers that can't even get SS3 & SS4.
Do we see Sky renaming SS3 Sky Sports Tennis & SS4 to Sky Sports Golf?

UEFA are by the biggest control freaks i have ever come across.
The restrictions they impose and requirements also, is nothing short of unbelievable, so them trying some stunt with regards to money as some sort of petty political punishment would not surprise me in the slightest.

BT YouView customers can't get any Sky Sports channels at the moment, a ruling from Ofcom is awaited on this matter.

In other BT Sport news, News UK which publishes The Sun, The Times and their Sunday editions has acquired the online and mobile clip rights to the Aviva Premiership after BT Sport released them.

Apparently there is a new mega buck pro tennis league starting in November. International Premier Tennis League - IPFL. Nadal, Murray, Djokovic & top women have signed up.

Could this be something for BT Sports ?

OK - thanks.

I suspect it won't be on SS4 but we'll have to wait and see.

For the record the start times are all wrong for the live coverage - eg on Thurs Sky's live programme will almost certainly start at 7pm (with full live course coverage from 8pm).

The fact they've got that wrong doesn't inspire a lot of confidence.

Last year the additional coverage from Amen Corner +more began on the red button 4pm so that's what they could be alluding to (with the Sky programme proper beginning at 7pm):

Thursday 11th April
THE MASTERS – DAY 1 LIVE
7.00pm-12.30am – Sky Sports 1 | Live play from 8.00pm
9.30pm-12.30am – Sky 3D

Amen Corner + Selected Holes LIVE
3.45pm-12.30am – Sky Sports 1 (Red Button)

It's only a new tournament - not a full on tennis revolution a la the Premier League and Football League! It's got modern 'icon' players as well as past champions and 'legends' taking part.

How do you know they've got it wrong? US coverage begins 11am ET so for all we know, Sky could be increasing this years coverage with having it all on SS4.

No, not yet.

SS schedules for w/e Fri 28 Mar only went up today.

They are now posting schedules far, far later than they used to.

Please advise where it has been announced that US coverage starts at 11am ET?

The US TV hours last year were:

Thur/Fri - 3pm ET - 7.30pm ET
Sat 3pm ET - 7pm ET
Sun 2pm ET - 7pm ET

And that is the longest they have ever been.

Sky won't be "increasing this year's coverage" - Sky (and BBC) have always shown as much as they are allowed to. Sky generally starts its main live programme (ie not red button) one hour ahead of US network coverage during which they are allowed to show "as live" clips.

The Masters Committee has always strongly controlled TV coverage - whenever it has expanded in the past it has been by the odd 30 or 60 minutes.

If US TV coverage was starting 4 hours earlier than ever before in the entire history of the Masters then there would, for certain, have been an announcement.

NB. I am talking about the proper live network coverage, not the Amen Corner / Hole 15/16 / Featured groups which are red button only.

See link for full history of Masters TV coverage:

There really is no need to be quite so analytical of everything! US coverage begins at 4pm UK with extensive support programming - there was no mention of live networked coverage from either ESPN or CBS! I was simply referring to additional range support programmes... don't blow a gasket. As far as you or anybody knows, with coverage scheduled for Sky Sports 4, they may go all out and offer extensive support programming just like that of ESPN, CBS and CBS Sports Network - which would begin 4pm UK time!

According to the 'Football on BT Sport' page on their site, they are still showing the MLS this year, but through the otherwise trustworthy Digiguide they aren't (or the CONCACAF Champions League for that matter).

Has anyone seen any adverts confirming this?

Apologies if you thought my previous post was too "analytical".

Anyway, things have now moved on - the Sky Sports website has now been updated to show 3 "main" programmes (ie not red button) on each day of the tournament - at 9am, 4pm and 7pm (6pm Sun) - which makes much more sense.

I suspect we can guess what the 4pm programmes consist of - given that on Sat and Sun Sky's red button coverage only starts at 5pm - because of course Sky has no access to the Amen Corner feed on those days!

Although interestingly, all 3 programmes each day are still listed as SS4. Whether that changes in due course we shall have to wait and see!

To stay true with their new strapline 'Sky Sports 4, Your Home of Golf', they're now promoting The Masters as being on SS4.

Looks like it gives them some scheduling issues as the MLS games clash with already scheduled live sport? Next weekend and perhaps for some while they possibly could use their website/app stream for some games? Or they could make a change closer to the weekend by dropping other live events.

Sunday March 9: Vancouver Whitecaps v New York Red Bulls - 12.30am looks like it could squeak in live on BT Sport 1 if they dropped their bayern and man utd highlights, which they might not want to do,, but everything else clashes next weekend and perhaps will continue to do so or do so from time-to-time (although I haven't looked further ahead so might be less clashing when the WTA isn't live from the States like next week)?

Delayed coverage of Seattle Sounders v Sporting Kansas City is in the Sky EPG Sunday 9th March 2.15pm, BT Sport 1 but FA Cup coverage starts again at 3.30pm so not tme for a full rerun. I'll add that up to this point I think BT Sport's scheduling of their overnight/unsociable hour events has been good (although there have been suggestions that they could rerun whole games more all round instead of filler magazine show repeats or commonly repeating one game 4 or 5 times which they tend to opt for). The NBA doubleheaders Wed-Fri aside the NCAA basketball doubles and triples, along with every A-League game live, I would say also that they seem to be able to schedule the ESPN stuff (NCAA, FNF, NHRA etc) better than how ESPN did themselves in the final years although of course the extra channel partly helps.

Would be sorry to miss out on the CONCACAF CL after last year's excellent coverage on ESPN - another example of BT coming in and making this frankly signifcantly worse for global football fans not better as they would have us believe with their constant self congratulatory rhetoric that came out this weekend after the extension of the Bundesliga deal

The ESPN Top 10 looks a little better than the week before.

As it stands the opening weekend of MLS is covered with 48m h/lights of 2 games in the listings as thus (digiguide.tv and SKY EPG):

BT Sport 1 March 9th at 2:15pm "Seattle Sounders v Sporting Kansas City"
BT Sport 1 March 10th at 9:00pm "LA Galaxy v Real Salt Lake"
BT Sport 1 March 12th at 1:30pm "LA Galaxy v Real Salt Lake"
BT Sport 1 March 12th at 5:30pm "Seattle Sounders v Sporting Kansas City"

*edit
above is digiguide
Sky EPG may differ as Vancouver v NY highlights are on March 10th 11.30am
but main point is nothing live in scheduled as yet just highlights of games

Has BTSP moved to 3.00pm on Saturday for a reason?

Not on in the morning, A League Football instead.

I noticed that, it seems an absolutely bizarre decision because the A League is hardly a major draw and they have BTS2 showing repeats at that time. And at three o'clock there are surely going to be bigger draws for the audience, especially this week with the Six Nations and Premier League football. Surely they can't show it at 3pm every week anyway because they've got rugby there half the time?

If they do do this then they wont be losing out on viewers to rival magazine show Soccer AM but by moving it to 3, as you say, there are so many bigger draws. It will be battered to a pulp by Gilette Soccer Saturday and footie fans such as myself will probably be watching their club so it is truly bizarre.

I suppose if they are not getting many viewers and they are spending lots of money on the salaries of Lovejoy, Dawson and guests in a time slot which doesn't really matter, you can see why they may ditch it. But to put it on at 3 is crazy. And I quite liked the show!
