Delia Bushell effectively replacing Watson as managing director of BT Sport and Television.

http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/busine...cle4056172.ece

Very much a Sky stalwart - currently Chief Commercial Officer at Sky Italia, she worked at BSkyB for 12 years and, crucially I guess for BT, Bushell knows broadband inside out having overseen Sky's entry into the UK broadband market and subsequent rapid growth.

The crowd was as usual close to capacity. The away support was not full. If the crowd are not in seats prior to KO bear in mind that there are a number of things at this modern ground to keep them from sitting down until they have to.

If they were not selling out practically every game then why would they be starting shortly on a plan to expand the ground to second only in attendance to Old Trafford?

Would not really be a wise thing to do if nobody was turning up, would it?

Average attendance is 47,100 - pretty much exactly what they had yesterday (47,009) .
Like all clubs they include season ticket holders even when they're not there.

If you're telling me there was only 91 empty seats in that stadium (apparently all in the away end ??? - and I know where the away end is btw) you were watching a very different game to me altogether.

There are regularly tons of empty seats there, apart from when the big clubs come to play.

Works well.

Not as good as broadcast HD, but acceptable for our occasional viewing

Best thing is, unlike direct connection you can do other stuff rather than having the app on screen.

BT says it will also work with Apple TV.
"From Monday 7 April, BT Broadband customers will be able to watch content from the BT Sport App on their televisions (if you have a subscription to BT Sport). The BT Sport App will work with both Apple TV and Google Chromecast devices. "

Has anyone tried this?

Airplay (i.e. Apple TV) has worked with the BT Sport App for ages.

Although it did have an annoying glitch where you couldn't lock the device running the app. Perhaps until now it's been "unofficially supported", but this latest development offers the same flexibility as other Airplay videos.

Man City v Southampton - overnight rating 490,000.

So BT's last game of the season featuring a top 4 team (indeed the title favourites) is comfortably outrated by the largely meaningless Man Utd v Aston Villa which it had on the week before.

Of course, that is not a surprise!

It's strange a little really. I mean Liverpool v Cardiff got 625,000 in December when BT were in a purple patch, topping 600,000 week after week with two 1,000,000 plus averages on Boxing Day and NYD. BT should be a tad disappointed if it doesn't average out at 500,000 or so come next week I would feel.

With the games left to go though, I wouldn't expect viewing figures to be soaring:
Hull v Sheffield United (FA Cup Semi Final) 100
I would have said more but the fact it goes head to head with Swansea v Chelsea means its going to struggle.

Tottenham v Fulham, 440
It's a nothing game for Tottenham really with just pride at stake but it could be a vital game for Fulham as they look to escape the drop. It's also a London derby but figures won't be amazing.

Southampton v Everton, 410
Two teams with lower fan-bases but actually arguably BT's most exciting game despite it being fifth choice! Everton are the people's favourite to snatch 4th place from Arsenal and this is a must win game against a strong top half Southampton team.

West Ham v Tottenham, 500
It could quite possibly be both the fixture which has the least importance to it and also BT's highest average of the final games. Spurs can draw a reasonable audience while West Ham games at Upton Park generally get good viewing figures and attention.

For its first season ( And a few games still to screen) they have done very well viewing figures-wise.
They'll have learnt alot from this season too, like where to make picks and not blow all their games of one club at once (Liverpool)
Plus they now have a (Now former) Sky exec on board to run BT Sport so id expect changes for the better and the lessons learnt from this

From what I've read in today's FT, Delia Bushell seems to have been recruited for her strengths outside the sports broadcasting area though she will obviously be involved in this aspect as well. Areas for her to be tackle probably include increasing BT TV subscriptions and adding more channels.
Don't forget, Tony Ball who founded Sky Sports back when it was originally The Sports Channel on BSB and was one of the few BSB people to make a subsequent career success in BSkyB is now a non-executive director and adviser at BT.

Not sure where to put this question but, does anyone know for sure what picks BT get next season in the FA Cup when they go with the BBC?

There's never been any outright confirmation.

If I remember correctly, the split of games in terms of quantity is the same as it was between ITV and BT/ESPN, but we've never been told if the split of the picks is the same.

I can't recall the amounts the BBC and BT paid for the rights, but perhaps that may give a clue as to whether BT have snatched any of the first picks...

It is the WTA Premier Tour that BT Sport have bought the exclusive rights for. Katowice is from the second-tier WTA International Tour and as it stands British Eurosport plan to continue to show some of these events live (including Katowice, Estoril, Nuremberg, Linz and Luxembourg).

There was discussion of it Oct 2013 here. Above and below post #2356 here:

I have been watching BT Sport App on my tv via Apple TV for months, via the app on my phone. Or are they saying the BT Sport App will now be on the Apple TV device itself therefore meaning you don't have to view through iphone/ipad now ?

Not sure how accurate these figures are as the article says "according to sources", but:

According to sources, BT Sport is believed to have paid in the region of £25 million per year for up to 25 FA Cup games – depending on any replays. The £100 million investment in the four year contract is believed to have been higher than the one tabled by rival Sky.

BT Sport’s new terrestrial partner, the BBC, has not secured as many games but has more FA Cup top picks, and is believed to have paid in the region of £100m - £120m for their part of the package.
If the number that BBC paid is also for 4 years then it would seem that the split in costs is pretty equal between the two.

When BT get all the games for the Europa League and Champions League, they will have beefier weeks of football certainly. It would mean they could drop a Premier League game for that week and still have plenty of live football to offer.

With the FA Cup deal, I would assume it is very similar to ITV/BT deal this year. BBC will have the majority - if not all - of the first picks as it is what the FA would want while BT will have more games to show, but not top pick. But this still gives them opportunities for big games ie. Liverpool v Arsenal, Man United v Swansea.

Just watching BT Sport via the Chromecast. The picture quality is much better than the SD channels on Sky (I don't pay the extra for HD). In fact the feed is from the HD channels (showing the HD DOG). Think I'll watch on Chromecast from now on.

My guess then is its the same 720p 30 fps feed available on the BT Sport app and BTSport.com, which would make sense.

Just out of interest, how come Tim Lovejoy hasnt been on BT Sports Panel for a good few weeks now?

Wouldnt say I watch it regularly as its not the best show however I'm not sure Helen Skelton is right person to anchor such a programme.
