Is there? I didn't know that but it would make sense to offer it to vision customers.

Gary is very dull. i think he has spent too long talking to Alan Shearer.

I have all but given up on MOTD. I now record it and then start chase playing it about 25 minutes in so I can fast forward the "analysis."

I like Gary too. He's professional, well experienced, well polished and is completely unbiased.

Yeah it doesn't seem to be advertised anywhere, but there's some classic premier league games, some UFC stuff and a few other bits and bobs.
I presume it's some of the stuff that was in the Vision Sport section, although that's still there.

Will there be a red button interactive service on the BT Sport App.

I think those BT ratings are about what would be expected.

They had 550,000 orders as of 10 days ago. Let's say they have approx 700,000 now. That's 10% of the number of Sky Sports homes.

So multiply those BT ratings by 10 and then compare that figure to what you would expect on Sky Sports.

Liverpool v Olympiakos - multiply by 10 would give average 460,000 (with very long intro), peak 900,000.

Arsenal v Napoli - multiply by 10 would give average 870,000, peak 1,290,000.

The above look pretty much in the area you would expect Sky Sports to get - maybe even a bit higher actually possibly reflecting the very strong football skew for BT viewers compared to Sky Sports.

Of course the other key thing to note is how much better the Arsenal game rates than the Liverpool one - despite the Liverpool one being a bit more attractive. Timeslot key as always.

Is it me or is David James improving.

Maybe someone has had a word. He probably just needs some more experience.

Gary Neville was terribly nervous and stilted at first.

Do I recall someone posting on here that BT had paid £5m per year for UFC?

I strongly doubted that was correct and based upon the above I certainly hope it isn't correct.

I know the timeslot is late and no doubt some will have recorded it to watch the next day but even so the numbers speak for themselves.

UFC is a classic example of something that generates far, far, more noise on internet forums compared to the actual level of interest in it across the whole population.

Bt sport 1 went to early to the add break for the nopoli v fc Porto game they should have stayed on air on the pitch until they all walked of the pitch and down the tunnel or in the studio with them talking and the players on the monitors behind them until they walked down the tunnel then go to add break

I do like it though when they are in the studio talking for the build up to the game and you can see on the tv screens behind them live moving shots of inside the stadium they don't keep it there constantly up they should it makes it looks as though they are in a box at the ground looking out the glass window makes it more exciting with live moving shots on the tv monitors behind them

That rugby rating looks very, very good - Sky wouldn't normally get anything like 10 times that figure for the same event.

Explanation? Who knows? Possibly the good lead in from the Arsenal game coupled with a bit of novelty value viewing - ie let's give this a go, see what it's like etc.

I notice that next Saturday, BT Sport 1 is showing BBC Sport Live between 3 and 4:45. I wonder if this include live reports from football grounds.

No - they're showing "BT Sport Live".

What it will comprise we'll have to see - they didn't appear to have any scores from Football League games yesterday - though I only flicked over to BTS1 for short periods so could have missed some.

But there was certainly no comprehensive scores service - though of course they did have the Arsenal game live from 4pm.

I'm just having a quick glance at the BT schedules. What happened to showing all 380 matches from Ligue 1? I took it to mean these would be live and available interactively when there are multiple kick-offs at the same time.

On Friday they're showing the PSG match on delay - over 2 hours after kick-off. They're choosing to show Bayern v Monchengladbach live from the Bundesliga instead.

On Saturday there are 7 evening Ligue 1 kick-offs - with BT choosing to show Bordeaux v Monaco live on BT Sport 2. Will the remaining 6 fixtures be shown online? The 2 Sunday kick-offs appear to both be live.

The Android (and presumably iOS) app description suggests it will have
Quote:
“Exclusive streaming of selected events that will not be televised on the channels”

but they've been very light on any details. Presumably they'll be on the website as well.

Yes - I'll also be very interested to see what happens.

I would be very surprised if they do stream every game live from the German, Italian and French Leagues. If they do the audiences will be so small they will be unmeasurable - I seriously wouldn't expect some games to even get 100 viewers, let alone 1,000.

But at the same time BT did say they were showing every game live. So if they don't will they actually say anything or just hope everyone's forgotten?

Thanks for that - certainly makes sense if they do offer the remaining matches online.

Just found the press release. It says

Quote:
“BT has the new football rights for multiple years. The Serie A rights include 380 live matches per season delivered in HD, highlights packages from each match day as well as the weekly preview show Total Italian Football and weekly review Serie A Show. The Ligue 1 rights include 380 live matches per season in HD, a weekly preview show and highlights packages from each match day.”

Going off that, I take it they'll be showing the PSG match live on Friday via the website? If they don't, like you say, they'll just hope people have forgot they ever mentioned it! Not that it's anything of note - who really cares if they show 380 French or Italian league matches. I was just intrigued as to whether it was a ploy to sound bigger and better and whether or not they'd actually see it through for the whole season.

It seems a lot of fuss to get a tiny tiny return in viewers - if at all any for a lot of the games!

Btw - link to that press release is here

Shame Beckham didn't stay for another season at PSG. Would have really added to the value of ligue 1.

Rooney was rumoured to be joining him at one point.

Are there any big english players in the other leagues that BT have? I am looking forward to seeing Bale at Madrid if he goes there, on sky.

It's one thing to have the rights - another to exploit them in full. I had the impression that they said were going to show all of the French and Italian games, but that press release doesn't say that.

Maybe they have the rights for all those matches, but it doesn't mean they're going to show them all?

Sky have the rights to HBO's back catalogue, but there's loads they haven't shown.

Just a thought.

Could be true, but I doubt it. They said at the start of the PPV how many countries it was live in, I can't remember the exact number, but it was a lot. That doesn't happen without something being popular. They haven't given ratings for the main event, or what you'd have to pay to watch in the US, which was 3am - 6am, but I'd imagine that will be the most watched of the UFC content, and also the most recorded to watch later.
