Usually is for tennis! The cost for paying for a team of commentators travelling across the world would cost too much!

Although I think Eurosport and Sky do attend the major events.
Sky only go on site for the U.S Open and The ATP World Tour Finals in London the all other everts are done at Sky HQ

Still no on demand footage on the app. Really hope we get this as I want to watch tennis but don't want to stay up all night

Just at 0045 - it's still on, but just constant ads for BT Sport (and still pushing Free HD for a year in one), although now some history of BT in sport is on...
The ad with the 'sign up before August 1 for free HD' was on Sky News this morning.

The complaint previously has been that they've not been entirely up-front about the location of the commentary team.

The noise towards the end of the rugby won't be a regular thing. The end of that overlapped with one of the "welcome to BT Sport" shows, with an enthusiastic studio audience.

I liked that. It added to the launch night vibe, although it could get annoying if it happened too regularly for no good reason.

David James was awful as expected. The style they've gone for isn't going to work. Everyone has praised Gary Neville because he is very good at his analysis, which includes in depth, technical discussion. This, you won't get from any of the 3 of them.

People will watch the games but I can't see them hanging around for the "analysis" or bothering to watch one of the other programmes.

David James is a complete idiot, he said the Spanish clubs were out of the running as far as the Champions League was concerned. Steve McManaman was the best of the bunch, Michael Owen just trots out the same old hoary chestnuts.

No different from Sky coverage in my experience then. Personally I will pay attention for 15/30 minutes pre-match to put myself in the picture, use half-time to attend to calls of nature and refresh drinks then turn off at full time.

I can't put into words how bad I thought James was. Genuinely shocking!

My memories of McManaman on Setanta were that he was quite poor. I can't work out if he's greatly improved, or just looked better when sat next to James!!!

I think (McManaman) commentating with Ian Darke on ESPN2 in the US sharpened him up.

Quite sad that you felt the need to trawl through old posts though...

Shock horror - somebody changes their mind on a service once it's actually launched and they've witnessed it first hand...

Yes. That may be the case for games where you have Redknapp and some ex-pro.

But for MNF people watch the analysis on show.

I can't see people watching the extra programmes BT have, the live thing.

and it only works if you have the rights. If you can't show the footage, it's just talk.

Indeed for games like West Brom v Norwich before I've watched an hour of Neville and then turned the actual match off when it starts! Incredible really.

Was watching the coverage last night and yes James was bad at one time he wanted to say something and Mcmanaman spoke before him which seemed to upset james and you could see it. maybe he will be ok in time with more time in front of the camera but i could have thought of a lot better pundits to front the coverage.

To be fair to THOMO, BT's opening night showed it could be a competitor to Sky in terms of style and coverage. But that doesn't necessarily mean it will bring in the paying customers it needs to be a financial success.

For many with Sky, it's only 18 'best pick' matches a year they're missing and to get them it's either going cost £180 a year, or switch to a provider with maybe the most expensive land line and BB charges.

Why do they always go for ex-Liverpool players?

Hansen and Lawrenson on the BBC, Owen, James and McManaman on BTSport.

I think Molby was a regular before and there is Jamie Redknapp on ITV and the god awful John Barnes on Channel 5.

Considering they haven't won the premier league for 20 years why are those bunch of losers given the tag of experts analysis, surely they should be going for some players who have actually won the title?

For someone daring to sport the second worst hair style on show (Scott Redding took the gold) you would think David James would be more outgoing.

I was a little underwhelmed with what I saw last night. It was a bit all over the show, the woman who interviewed Michael Vaughan at the cricket sounded like she didn't have a clue what she was talking about, and they claimed they will be showing baseball but the September schedule appears to have them covering exactly one game, between the pitiful Mets against the hopeless Twins. The rest of September looks very light on sports which I have any interest in watching.

Obviously early doors, and the real proof will be how well they cover football, then how they cover other sports as they start pulling their portfolio together. Jake Humphreys is a pro and I expect will do well, Matt Dawson seems like a bright and interesting chap, Anne Keothavong was ok, . If only they had some more ex-Liverpool players in studio......Somehow I don't think Sky will be quaking in their boots just yet.

And how many broadcasters is Michael Vaughan working for at the moment? I count at least three - BBC, Five and now BT. Hopefully he will just focus on cricket and stay away from any further forays into golf or anything else.

Yes it was when owen talked. He did a Lee Dixon not realising he was on view.

There's a really bad lip sync issue on the 2 channel at the moment.

Take your own medicine... This is a thread for intelligent discussion and debate. We're not in a playground. It's completely irrelevant of how a team has played in the league when it comes to punditry. Your post is completely irrelevant. Jog on.
