I am still trying to find out from them if they have given up showing Brazil national team games. Their silence is deafening.

Well he said everyone who expressed the opinion that BT wouldn't have a red button service were "talking rubbish" and also suggested that they were pro-Sky for expressing that opinion. Who are these people exactly?

Also, the posting of the location of his Skybox might indicate that there is something else been hinted at (ie why does it matter?).

Weekend ratings from ITV Media (F1 included)

Saturday
BTS1 - 12:00 to 15:00 - under 490k
SSF1 - 13:00 to 15:45 - 509k (5.8%)
SS1 - 16:45 to 20:00 - 929k (6.0%)

Sunday
SS1 - 12:30 to 15:30 - 925k (9.9%)
SSF1 - 12:00 to 15:45 - 961k (10.5%)
SS1 - 15:30 to 19:00 - 1.37m (9.8%)

I might be biased here being an F1 fan, but the football figures are lower than I expected - a split audience no doubt on Sunday, but Chelsea vs Man City just looks... poor.

I would say it was poor as well considering the 2 teams that were playing and probably the biggest game of the season so far but like we have all said before both Chelsea and Man City not the biggest audience puller.

On the other hand if QPR V Stoke on BT was under 500 but over 400 then I think they would be pretty pleased considering the teams they were covering.

I still expect next weekends Merseyside Derby to be their biggest audience by far so far.

And if it's anything like last seasons derbys it'll be the best by far too.

It wasn't a bad game (City-Che) and one Sky would have been determined to have as it is the favourites for the title against the former champions and only serious title contender. Chelsea are probably 3rd biggest draw and City 5th so it's still a big viewer magnet.
They'll definitely be happy with anything in the excess of 400,000 as it is by far BT's weakest game to date.
As for Liv-Eve, I would agree that it should be BT's highest figures of the season, with Utd-Eve the week after most likely to eclipse these ratings. The fact the game is on a Sunday -- albeit in not the best time slot -- will still push viewers up from the usual 12.45 slot I feel, with most other neutral fans already having seen there team played the day before.

Also note the extra 30 mins outro to 7pm will have pulled it down a bit.

If the programme had ended as normal at 6.30pm then the programme average would have been a bit over 1.5m; around 1.55m I would expect.

Still not great but more in line with what would be expected.

Back to the familiar pattern - when Aviva rugby has the PL lead-in it rates substantially higher than when it doesn't.

As posted late last season, I do think the Aviva ratings raise doubt as to whether it really justifies a rights value of £22m per year.

I agree with that, the Man Utd Everton game on the Sunday should be another very good puller for BT and I would expect figures over 900k, to be honest I don't think the Derby game this Saturday will be far of that number.

That goes for basically anything and everything sport (or even entertainment) related so to be honest it's a pointless comment.

From the NFL Broadcasting Thread (credit to the poster there)

Sky agrees a new five-year deal with the NFL starting next year through 2019 - Monday Night Football now included.

That's another rights deal sewn up very early and one which may have been on the BT (ESPN?) radar. For context, the agreement on that TV deal often goes down to a few days before the season starts and rarely runs for more than 24 months at a time.

Why? Wouldnt it be magic if they got Paul McCartney and Ringo Starrs to commentate on the merseyside Derby

Because he's one of BT's Premier League commentators.

Why would there be any reason for him not to?

BT Doesn't have a 'main' commentator. They employ 3 and the rest are freelancers.
Derek Rae is the Scottish football guy and then the English is divided up by Darke and Fletcher.

I would say Darke is slightly more their main commentator.

Going on the games he had last season compared to Fletcher including the FA Cup final.

This season yes Fletcher had the community Shield but apart from the Prem League he hasn't done any other commentaries and the first real big game has gone to Darke.

Will be interesting now if this rotation policy, which BT seem to use for Darke and Fletcher, carries on if Fletcher stays in line for the big Liverpool Chelsea game in November.

Perhaps it's been 'silently dropped' ever since they announced they've got German home friendlies instead?

BTW, What was the last Brazil game they showed?
