Sure if this time next year Richardson isn't part of BT's coverage then they deserve to be roundly criticized for not using one of their best presenters. he's been ruled out because BT want a big name to front the coverage.
In the eyes of BT, he isn't big enough and so has been ruled out of any involvement.
And you'd be surprised how early decisions are made for upcoming contracts and changes.
Its not made with a few months to go. BT has time to sort what they want and are in that process as we speak. Same as Sky are in what to fill the void of no UCL and ITV the same.

Some decisions may be made in the long term, some aren't. On 1st August 1999 the Beeb had Des Lynam doing all their big football coverage for the season that started the next weekend and hosting their coverage on Millennium Night. On 2nd August he told them he'd just joined ITV.

There is nothing to say that people on Sky now won't jump ship to BT because they think with the Champions League it's a better bet, especially as between then and now the next Premier League rights will be announced.

When you say 'people', do you mean presenters or pundits?

I've always thought that BT would be unwilling to take on anyone directly from Sky - or at least anyone perceived as being a prominent member of the Sky team - to keep themselves as separate from their rivals as possible.

I would not have a scooby if someone turned up on BT who had formerly worked on Sky. I suspect that would be true of the vast majority of BT subscribers.

How can they - or Sky - not show Brazil-Argentina?

The iOS version of the BTSport app was withdrawn from the App Store last night owing to problems with the update which was released yesterday afternoon. The problem appears to be with the EPG within the app. They are working on a solution, and it is still possible to view all three channels from within the app rather than going via the EPG . However, I would not recommend trying to delete and re-install at the moment if you use this app

Is it just me or has the quality on BTSport.com (BT Sport & ESPN live streams) dropped?

BT letter
My parents have had the BT Vision box since last December and get BT Sports 1 & 2 via terrestrial, as they are on an exchange that still doesn't have FTTC and highly unlikely it will get it.

This week though they got a letter from BT stating that from 20th October that the BT Sports channels will be no longer available through an aerial and will be broadcast via the copper multicast platform for ADSL customers which was enabled a few months ago on their exchange.

I expect then something will happen on 20th October on Freeview with the two cleared slots that have been vacated.
”

Is this the end of BT Sports on freeview?

I've just had a quick look for myself, and I agree that the quality does not seem to be up to the usual standard.

The problem with the iOS app seems to have been sorted out. There's been another update and the EPG is now working normally.

Is it just coincidence that there have been problems with the website and the app in the last 24 hours?

Think it's always been a decent filler for BT and gets sound(ish) figures generally in the region of 30 and 60,000.
I think the Play Off Final for the Conference got almost 200k average viewing and the famous muddy pitch in Barnet got 100k.

The PL average was pretty dire considering the scale of the match however other than that I think BT will be delighted with their other figures.
158k for 3rd choice Europa League tie versus the ITV 4 English teams is excellent, as is the 175k for the SPFL match when in direct competition with Sky's MNF.
58k is also a good figure for an excellent Serie A match between the 2 best Italian teams at the moment.
Is it me though or is PL figures going down on both Sky and BT?
For example, 913k for Ars-Tot a few weeks ago, 987k for Whu-Liv.
Even that 1,300k for Che-ManC (arguably one of the seasons most defining games) is leaving a lot to be desired (consdiering the huge viewing figures you come to expect from Sky's PL coverage).
BT as well with Man-Eve getting poor figures, Liv-Eve getting mediocre ratings, Ars-Mcy not pulling up any trees. I would suggest BT improve their analysis and be a bit more insightful in their coverage. Also, mix up the pundits. Hargreaves has a different style which would add an extra dimension to the previously good but now overused McMannaman and the downbeat Scholes.

Well they mix up Ian Darke and Darren Fletcher so like you say mix the rest of the team up from week to week, add variety and consider not using Darren Fletcher for 4 half hours as he is presenting Fletch and Sav.
Either use a different host for the weeks they want to use him for commentary or just use Darkie and maybe someone like Derek Rae on perhaps the not so appealing games.
It can be a very long day for Fletcher on the broadcasting front if he then host 606 live the same evening.

But that figure for Man Utd Everton is poor to put it mildly.

All this talk of pundits etc. Very very few people watch a game for the pundits. A nice addition but not a make or break surely?

How long will they continue with the ESPN stuff from the States as those ratings are pretty poor in terms of any TV sports channel ?

Why should they?
ESPN is a huge global brand and a damn sight bigger than BT SPORT.
Most people associate ESPN as US sports so it fits considering what it shows and what it caters for

On the other hand, I'd imagine it's all very cheap content and it fills a large number of hours throughout the year (principally baseball from April through October and college football during the autumn and winter).

Indeed cheap to run but also a very important channel. There are a lot of people, like myself who would not subscribe to BT Sport if they did not have US sport. In fact I only sub to Sky because they have the NFL, but that I may stop soon.
