On the app id like them to do away with the 2nd watch click you do
So not just me who thinks it is a click too far. And when are they going to make the play control bar and volume control show up when in full screen mode?

I enjoyed the coverage of the Emirates Cup but the constant small inset at the bottom of the screen showing the managers etc, was really irritating after a while.

I think it's pretty clear that all the FA care about is money.

They have a track record of 21 years with Sky because there has been no other real competition.
They will always sell to the highest bidder, look at ITV Digital.
BT may be promoting their broadband, but if you think Sky are in it for the football and not in it for themselves as well then you would be wrong. Sky are in it because it makes business sense, it's hugely profitable for them. BT now think it makes business sense for them too, they are just delivering it to their customers differently that's all.

According to this thread BT seem to be doing a good job of it so far. What sort of problems do you envisage happening that would make the FAPL upset?
Not everyone on this thread who are watching it are blindly praising it though - there are criticisms of some of the coverage from those who are watching...

Regardless of that, nothing important has happened yet - the only (or definitely main) reason most people who have moved to BT Broadband was for the PL top picks, and so until we see how BTS handle that coverage (rather than meaningless friendlies), it's hard to say.

It could well be superior to Sky's coverage and lead to the FAPL being happy to allow them more packages next time - or it could attract poor viewing figures, and may influence their decisions next time.

The FAPL know what Sky can do and have done on a regular basis... it remains to be seen how BTS will do. I'm just glad Sky have got the Football League coverage - for those of us that follow teams no longer in the elite league!

Was the inset onscreen permanently?

No but it was used far too regularly, like someone had just discovered an `inset button` and wanted to try it out. And out. And out......

With the different content BTS has and would be looking to add, would it be worth them trying to do a deal with the FA to cover the England team when the current contract ends?

ITV and Sky have only just won a re-contract a matter of weeks ago.

Can anyone help with the best number to phone BT regarding the fact that I can't receive the HD channels on my Sky box. When I phoned them last Thursday, the operator guaranteed I would get the HD channels for free, but he had to fill in a separate form or something.

Anyway, the SD channels have worked from the start, but the HD channels encrypted on Friday. I've emailed via the contact form, but am still awaiting an answer. And there seems to be a ton of numbers to call, but each one seems to have a 30 minute queue.

The free HD offer ended last Wednesday.

Mark Clemmit presenting the conference preview? Oh no!
Apart from the fact my team was only spoken about for 20 seconds or so, I enjoyed this show. Good guests too with a past, present and future knowledge of management at the level. I quite like Clem.

Also, who was the presenter of BT Sport's Ligue 1 preview who has attracted the criticism on here?
Someone called Caroline de Moraes.

I know. My problem was I signed up on 20th July, had confirmation email and everything. But when I went to sign in to the BT Sport app it said it was not available on my account. I wasn't sure what happened, so phoned the number on the confirmation email, who said the order hadn't gone through and I would have to reorder.

I phoned up lunchtime on 1st August and the operator said they would still allow me the free HD because I had initially ordered before the end of July. I asked the guy three times to confirm it. But it now seems that it didn't go through properly again.

I'm very much looking forward to the European leagues coverage, I just hope the "380 games live and in HD" statement from BT's press release is true, even if it's just via the app. Would make it easier to follow teams through the season then, time permitting.
very happy we have 6 games this week, just hope BT don't prioritise everyone's flavour of the month(bundesliga) and big bucks french league over super negative serie a(sarcasm)

i really cannot see the 380 game thing being true, there is no on demand service on the app let alone a match choice setup, i just cant see it.

would be amazing if i could follow inter milan every week mind.

In that case, it gives BTS a few years to show what they can do, and by the time the CL bidding is next due, they'll have some experience and presumably a growing audience.

Champions League bidding is due to commence before the end of the calender year.

Yeah, unfortunately it looks like that could be more a case of "we could show 380 games if we wanted to" than something they'll actually do. The app does say in the description it can be used for live events not shown on TV though, so I'm hoping they work something out for the rest of the games.

In that case, it gives BTS a few years to show what they can do, and by the time the CL bidding is next due, they'll have some experience and presumably a growing audience.
When is the next CL auction? Will be an interesting one to see, I would imagine BT will want to get some matches if at all possible.

Edit: Just seen LOSG's post above, looks like we won't have long to wait to see if BT bid for it or not. LOSG do you know if the winners are revealed before the end of the year also, or is there a delay until they're announced?

I'd be interested in knowing this too.

I'd think if BT are serious about their channels, and aren't content to just use the rights they have and see how many extra broadband customers it gets them, they'd want to be, at the very least, putting a bid in, if not winning some/the majority of the games.

There is no way UEFA are going to award UK rights to BT at this early stage of their existence.

There's also no guarantee that BT will win! Unlike a lot of people on here who seem to think otherwise.

Besides, a company with no red button streams would be awful. I'd hate to have to log on to a website in order to watch any other games. Would much rather press a red button to access the extra screens a la Sky Sports.

How are the rights bid for? If it's a straight auction, and BT win, they have to unless there are financial concerns, no?

Because not nearly as many people in the UK have BT Sport, they don't have as many channels and so I question if they can have as comprehensive coverage as does Sky, Sky do a pretty great job covering the CL, and they would be mad to snub them for an as yet unproven alternative. And Sky aren't going to sit back and let it happen either.

Reminds me of all the speculation about Al Jazeera getting UK Premiership rights. One day, maybe. Not now.

How does that differ from the Premier League awarding matches to a channel that didn't yet exist?

Worth bearing in mind that the next round of CL rights runs from 2015 to 2018 so, whoever is successful, the rights don't kick in for over 2 years from now.
