BT Sport is being made available free with BT's new mobile contracts via the BT app. Minimum tarriff is £10pm (halved to £5pm if you are a BT broadband customer.)

Of course if you are already a BT Broadband customer then you already have free access to BT Sport via your browser or the app. But be aware that, unlike Eurosport Player which has a very useful three hour chase-play facility, you either *have* to watch live or rely on a limited amount of coverage to be made available as VoD maybe a day or so later.

The BT Mobile launch and the telegraph article linked to on the previous page appear to give further credence to the split Premier League (free when you pay for other things) and European Football (pay separately) model, which most people seem to have felt is the most likely outcome for a while.

Not only does the telegraph article mention the idea of charging for European Football (it's not a quote say could be just speculation though), but BT Mobile is currently advertising "free Premier League" for BT Mobile customers.

They are not allowed to advertise champions league fully yet are they?

Wonder what will happen with EE customers then as BT brought the network. That could get interesting i am with EE so would love to know what they will do with that.

And who has the rights in Ireland at present?

(Rhetorical question - Setanta are one of the rightsholding channels)

On ESPN there's a white rectangle in the bottom right corner of the screen to the right of the "ESPN replay" logo right now. It's like the white security number/white dot/ or red button feature in the way that it goes and returns when you put up the EPG banner or tv guide and exit (if that makes sense?). Just wondering why it's there. It's the first time I've seen it on screen and that's from 8am this morning during the ice hockey.

Should be able to see it if you click on these:

Are you watching online/via the app? Sounds like the logo they put up on the online feed (just like Sky do), presumably to differentiate for pubs, etc.

Perhaps it's somehow got onto the broadcast feed by mistake?

Anyone know what the numbers in the top right of the screen mean? They were on Virgin during the rugby yesterday,

Watching via Sky TV (Channel 417). If it is on the broadcast feed by mistake why would it disappear and re-appear when using the remote to get the EPG info/menu up (as with the "interactive" features)? So (I'm guessing) it's not in the broadcast feed as such but in the part of the Sky EPG software that allows the on-screen display of interactive/security features (eg red button or "anti-piracy" numbers - if that makes sense?).

Should be able to see it if you click on these

and with the blue menu banner up you might be able to see it disappears - it returns when I remove the banner

*or additionally put pressing back-up removes it so it is like the tiny white dot which sometimes appeared on the Sky Sports channel on Sky TV after they phased out Sky text or the same as with the interactive red button (so not like the anti-piracy numbers which remain on-screen if you press back-up)

This small rectangle currently on ESPN is staying on-screen during the ad breaks.

Its not your viewing card number!

Its an anti-piracy reference number attached to your Sky account that is displayed onscreen when Sky have identified an 'illegal' stream online and need to know who is providing it. By enabling this, they can see who is streaming it online from their STB and disable the customer's viewing card to kill the feed. (And then hand over the details to the authorities)

Just seen your screenshots - this looks like the pub 'pint glass' logo that BT use to me. Again, not sure how it's come to be on the domestic feed.

It's still on there now and I believe has been throughout since Sunday morning. It does look like the pint glass but is it exactly the same or does it look squared off more at the end (I don't know)?
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CBP7wAVWUAE-zmw.jpg

Here's an example of a Sky Sports pint glass dog (I can't find the bt one)
http://up.metropol247.co.uk/davidlee...sky_sports.png

Also doesn't that pint glass symbol get broadcast on the actual feed (within or alongside the on-screen graphic for "Sky Sports" or "BT Sport" etc) rather than be part of the interactive software like the type of thing displayed on-screen such as the "white dot" on Sky Sports 5 or the antipiracy numbers or like the "red button" icon which disapears with paused programmes or bringing up the menu banner?

As an additional note regards popeye13's post above anyone involved in that can simply pause their box and then by pressing play straight away remove those numbers for the duration, can't they? So it's left to those watching straight having an extra bit of screen clutter on their screen!

Just had a look for myself and its there too but only on the SD version of ESPN.
The SD versions of BT Sport & 2 are fine as are the HD versions so very strange indeed.
Also noted that on ESPN (SD) my box became unresponsive for a time when that was onscreen. It was only after it timed out and self-removed was i able to use the box again, which is equally strange!
Send a tweet to BT Customer Care, they're normally quick to reply and might be able to shed some light

I'm also with EE for mobile, so I wait with anticipation as to what will happen with bundling sports.
I expect nothing until I renew in two years time though. If it does come then that's a huge bonus to me.

Man City v West Brom I believe to be BT's lowest PL average at 270k (no doubt not helped with the Rugby on BBC clash) though I'd expect BT to be a tad disappointed.
Sky only just scraped over 400,000 for their Saturday Night Game though so I think it had an effect throughout the day.
Sky also had that incredibly low SNF average of 253k with Swansea and Leicester though it couldn't have helped with El Classico on SS5.

It will take a year before BT is allowed to own EE so I expect nothing to happen before then.

Horrendously low figures all round, I think you are right that would be BT's lowest figure of the season by far although Everton Swansea may well fail to beat that in a few weeks time.
Just goes to show if a big team is being covered the figures will easily reflect it.

On another note I would expect BT to have one of their highest Sat Lunchtime figure of the season with Arsenal v Liverpool.

Just to add a note regarding a rather amusing little incident that I doubt will have pleaed BT Sport a great deal

Watching the main race of the V8 Supercar race held over the weekend shown live on BT Sport and Motors TV the Australian commentators were going through some tweets and picked up on one from the UK remarking "no doubt watching the race on Motors TV!"

Rather suspect that BT might be on the phone to the rights holders to remind them who is also broadcasting the race...

Sky figures may provide BT with food for thought re the idea of separately charging for the CL:

w/e 22/03/15:
Liverpool v Man Utd (PL) - 1,799,000
Hull v Chelsea (PL) - 1,403,000
Barcelona v Real Madrid (La Liga) - 1,042,000
Barcelona v Man City (CL) - 884,000

w/e 15/03/15:
Chelsea v PSG (CL) - 1,136,000

Barcelona v Man City and Chelsea v PSG were Sky's two highest profile CL games of the season - both 2nd legs in the last 16.

OK, Man City were always likely to go out but the Chelsea game was extremely exciting and went to extra-time.

Those CL ratings really aren't great - sure Liv/Man U is special (albeit that it's in the Sun 1.30pm slot) but a fairly run of the mill Hull/Chel at Sun 4pm is beating both those CL games by a very wide margin.

Of course put Man U or Liv in the CL and there would be a significant improvement.
