Whatever the ins and outs I for one am looking forward to this game. I also think its about time they had another look at this rather archaic rule.

I think BT made the right decision to cancel/not renew the Baker & Kelly VSPO show.

The first year the show was brilliant. Fridays at 6pm looking forward to the weekends games and very few guest so it was just the banter between the two Danny's and the occasional viewer on the phone.

Then after the first season the Danny's did their World Cup show which thanks to being on daily probably did need a guest for every episode just to keep the banter flowing.

However for the second season BT moved the show to Mondays at 6pm and used the World Cup format rather than the original format. Both of these decisions (in my opinion) killed off the flow and enjoyment of the show, and to be honest I think I watched it for the first 9 or 10 weeks of the 2nd year and then gave up on it.

Instead of BT Sport Preview showing rolling promos, BT could put it to more use and show BT Sport Extra instead...

What are they giving to show on BT sport 3?. They hardly have enough sport to show on 2 channels?. Will the FTA channel be full time?

Well in fairness I think if you look at what goes on to BT Sport Extra especially at the weekends there is enough at least for another channel. And my preference would be for some more repeats of European football (a lack of which has been a major gripe of mine over the past 2 years or so since BT took over the rights of the like of Serie A, Bundesliga etc.)

If a third live channels is needed for extra capacity at weekends, it's a no-brainer to launch it. During the week it could be filled with wall-to-wall highlights of the previous week(end)'s matches. Or even archive European matches once their CL/EL rights kick in.

What are BT Sport 4-7 channels then going to be?. How do they get the extra bandwidth for new channels

Surprised no large scale promotion of champions league at all by bt sport yet

Is this prohibited until after this season's final?

Also for those with access, after champions league final does ss5 stop showing champions league archive? I presume sky shows will be able to use footage from when sky have rights?

I presume there'll be a sort of official date when the contract ends, that'll be when Sky will have to stop showing CL stuff. It win't be straight after the final, not least as there'll probably be a last Champions League Weekly or whatever it's name is. No idea about archive stuff in the future though.

SPI only updated to Fri 12 June.

SS5 has highlights of 2015 CL final several times on Sun 7 June.

No more CL after that - highlights of last round of Euro 2016 qualifiers for most of the week, leading up to the next round of live Euro 2016 qualifiers starting on Fri 12 June.

Plus a whole day of WI v AUS Test cricket on Thur 11 June - continuing the trend of other sports appearing on SS5.

Don't know for sure but wouldn't be surprised if SS5 just becomes a normal SS channel next season even if they do retain La Liga.

BT will really gear up as far as CL goes in July I imagine.

Pretty sure Sky lose all access because they failed to retain any rights (unlike ITV) - so no archives etc.

I still think Sky will hold La Liga but I suspect there is a good chance they might drop putting all the games on SS5 - it worked as a marketing gimmick but I don't think it's worked in terms of cohesiveness (and may have had a slight negative impact on LL ratings).

303k for Everton v Sunderland two weeks back on BT which isn't too bad as it took on the huge derby clash in the Championship with the 1st leg of Norwich v Ipswich. Has anyone got the Southampton v Aston Villa figures?

Yes, 295,600, according to Broadcast. At the same time Norwich vs Ipswich on Sky got 541,300, although it was a massive Championship game and a pretty run-of-the-mill (on paper, I know the actual match turned out to be quite something) Premier League game.

I seem to recall that when the Beeb didn't have the rights to the FA Cup, they also lost the rights to show archive footage from after a certain date, I don't think they could show any from the previous decade. I don't suppose Sky would want to show archive Champions League stuff anymore anyway.

BT will be happy with the FA Cup Final result - it means Liverpool go straight into the Europa League group stage along with Spurs, thus guaranteeing at least six Liverpool games.

Had Aston Villa won, Liverpool would have needed to negotiate the 3rd qualifying and play-off rounds before reaching the group stage. Southampton now have that task.

Incidentally, West Ham are also in the Europa League (Fair Play spot) at the 1st qualifying round.

If outside weekends BT3 is lacking live sport, could it host Sports News?

Give that and City A.M. reporting BT will announce the price customers will pay for Champions League on Tuesday 9th June, might that be the date they can advertise it from / get the rights to use footage etc?

Lineker and Humprhrey would be an undeniable strong presenting line up, just hope they surround them with better pundits that the current PL offering.

As well as being a good presenter, Lineker will be a great ambassador for BT - I presume he will be front and centre of the advertising campaign if his new BBC deal allows it.

Totally agree with that, it would certainly be a very strong presenting line up, certainly don't think there is better than Lineker around at the moment but like you rightly say the key is certainly on pundits.

Commentary also needs some serious looking at!
Owen has to go! Not a bad pundit but cannot commentate worth shit!

And if the reports are true that Linaker is to sign a new non-exclusive deal with the BBC, they he can do as he and BT want (Provided he sign with BT that is)

Well Owen cant do all the big games himself and Macallister should be doing Scottish games so a decent co-commentator is a serious must.

And if anyone dare says Robbie Savage!!!

Caribbean Premier League T20 returns June 20th

There was a report last year (unconfirmed?) that BT affected start times for the CPL so as to suit UK audiences influencing a decision to go earlier for UK tv audiences but leaving stadiums struggling to fill because of the times. If that was true then it looks like the CPL T20 has reverted to local demands with 4pm/6pm8pm local starts (9pm/11pm/1am starts in the UK) as with the first season.

BT have the CFL (Canadian Football League) in their schedules. The regular season begins late June and lasts for 20 weeks culminating with the Grey Cup championship on Nov 29.
