Not really sure how much of a stamp BT Sport will be able to make though. They are not going to produce their own coverage of the non-England Australia matches or the BBL. So that means that barring other international board rights that tour will be the only series they will get to produce themselves.
They will not be able to have their own exclusive commentators for just five tests, five ODIs, and the odd T20I. Nor with all of those being played overnight can they justify spending much on innovating the coverage.
I assume the BBL is included as the last set of rights was for all domestic as well as international cricket. All of which is useful schedule filler, but still a high price for what is essentially a single series played at about the worst possible time.
But as someone who, as a bairn, watched the Ashes on Sky One in 1990 this is quite the end of an era nonetheless.
