I have the BT Sport app on my iPhone. I also have a Samsung Smart TV, so is there any way I can stream the service to it does anyone know? Would be nice to watch on the TV instead of the small mobile screen!

If you have a laptop with a HDMI port ( and a hdmi cable available) you can duel screen your laptop onto the TV.

Anyone know what Bitrate (Mb/s) the two BT HD channels are running at? ... it seems to be a fantastic picture... RTE Two HD is running at 12.1 Mb/s which is very high compared with others but BT seems to be in a different class.

Don't suppose anyones checked to see if the BT Sport channels are now fully encrypted on Sky?

I only wonder because there was a number of posts over the past couple of days of people saying they hadn't received a confirmation letter/email or that the confirmation only refers to the Standard Def channels when they ordered the HD version - yet so far there has been no posts with people saying their sky viewing card hasn't been activated or they only have access to the SD channels.

Someone posted on here last night. IIRC it was 12 something.

Maybe its my eyes playing tricks but it seemed an awful lot better then the 12 (Mb/s) native HD that RTE ever broadcast.

I posted that it was 12 Mbps video for the channel intro (mainly studio footage). The football match was 14 Mbps and the rugby was 13 Mbps.

These are all averages of course and include the whole programme (not just live action).

Yeah I knew it had to be above 12(Mb/s), it looked particularly good on the eye.

Surprised to see such positivity regarding the presentation last night - it was cringe worthy and amateurish for the most part.

Not that I would have thought the studio output would play a big part in the success or otherwise of the channel.
All about the live rights and they have some decent stuff,

Still find it amazing that you can only get the channel on one box -
totally untrue by some to suggest this is a sky restriction (suggested both on here and elsewhere) as Premier Sports and NASN before it have managed it just fine.
Just because you can't use sky's mirror subscription service doesn't stop you offering a 2nd or 3rd box sub at a discounted price.
Judging by comments both on social media and elsewhere this is something they would be well advised to resolve asap.

What is that in real money?
Is it 12×60*60 then divided by 1024? And so about 42mb an hour ??

I subscribed on wednesday through having BT internet and I don't i've got the confirmation email and I can currently view the channels. Obviously because of this I have no idea whether they are encrypted or not?

Yesterday was viewable on both boxes. Now only available on main box and encrypted on multiroom box. So yes.

Thanks for the info, I really should just have checked my multi-room box.

I do, but I'd rather just be able to sit in the living room and push a button on my phone and off it starts than having to unplug my laptop and carry it downstairs, set it up and then once the match is over take it back upstairs again!

i felt like i was watching Going Live or Alive and Kicking yesterday lol. very laid back but also quite annoying, and oh man the comedy sketches? why?

david james is terrible! monotone and spaced out all the time.

PQ was good and i do like the set.

just waiting for italian football to start now and then i can judge them properly

also anyone use BT app yesterday? it was overloaded i think, kept breaking up.

I was a little underwhelmed with what I saw last night. It was a bit all over the show, the woman who interviewed Michael Vaughan at the cricket sounded like she didn't have a clue what she was talking about, and they claimed they will be showing baseball but the September schedule appears to have them covering exactly one game, between the pitiful Mets against the hopeless Twins. The rest of September looks very light on sports which I have any interest in watching.

Obviously early doors, and the real proof will be how well they cover football, then how they cover other sports as they start pulling their portfolio together. Jake Humphreys is a pro and I expect will do well, Matt Dawson seems like a bright and interesting chap, Anne Keothavong was ok, . If only they had some more ex-Liverpool players in studio......Somehow I don't think Sky will be quaking in their boots just yet.

And how many broadcasters is Michael Vaughan working for at the moment? I count at least three - BBC, Five and now BT. Hopefully he will just focus on cricket and stay away from any further forays into golf or anything else.
I saw that cricket bit too she looked hopeless not a clue. And when she found out 5-0 was unlikely she pretended to act like it was the end of the world. Amateurish and gimmicky is my opinion of bt sport. Silly jokes that arnt funny such as James and mcmananan being in shorts then being told to get ready and change? It was like it was a kids show for Cbbc. For me very noisy in studio also. I don't rate it whatsoever and think instead of rushing to sign former co commentators such as mcmananan and then add James and Owen who are useless they should have looked for someone with more knowledge and a bigger personality. To childish the way they present seems to be aimed more at kids. Even when they went to talk about European football on Sunday the way they cut to James they made him then act out like a children's tv programme

Only decent thing is jake humphreys he was half decent and can do a job knew what he was upto

Someone like mark Bolton would be perfect for bt and not some unattractive young media graduate who knows nothing about sport such as some of the girls on there

The studio is vast, but feels empty. Are there supposed to be people sat around on those laptops ?

Are they going to have like a rolling sports news service ? I think that could work on BT Sport 2 to run when there isn't any live action. Presumably it's a resourcing issue though.

I think it needs programmes like Final Score, Soccer Saturday, Transfer Deadline Day etc before it can feel a full service.

To be fair to THOMO, BT's opening night showed it could be a competitor to Sky in terms of style and coverage. But that doesn't necessarily mean it will bring in the paying customers it needs to be a financial success.

For many with Sky, it's only 18 'best pick' matches a year they're missing and to get them it's either going cost £180 a year, or switch to a provider with maybe the most expensive land line and BB charges.
And multiroom customers will be deterred from signing by the lack of this option for BT and a more than 3 minute delay on being live via BT online.

What are the TVL rules for watching live content? Three minutes is stretching it a bit!!

They are. All channels clear on our box with BT Sport added to it (our multiroom box). Our main box has upgrade screens only on all four BT Sports (HD and SD) and the 2 ESPNs.

For live sport it is surely unacceptable. And BT and Sky need to sort this out via a multiroom deal unless BT can get their online service to speed up a few thousand times. I fail to see why there is such a hefty delay.

What? 13 Mbps would be 1.625 MiB/s = 5850 MiB/h = 5.7 GiB/h. I'd expect recordings to be anywhere between 4.5 and 6.5 GiB/h.

Just tuned in the SD channels on my HTPC so I can watch whilst away from home (HD isn't reliable even with 20 Mbps upload). The quality is decent - looks to be around 3.5 Mbps video at 720x576, something usually only seen on BBC One. Bit better than Sky methinks.

I'm beta testing Now TV on my LG Smart TV. It's a 3mb SD stream running about 50 seconds behind Sky Sports HD on satellite.

The satellite is about 15 seconds behind TMS on DAB.

My wife often hears a wicket on TMS in the kitchen and runs into the lounge to watch it 'live' on Sky!!
