I'm currently a BT Infinity customer with Sky and my contract is almost up, but their refusal to match their website prices for new customers means they'll almost certainly loose me. Has anyone here subscribed directly to BT Sport on Sky? I saw the previous Groupon deal (now being offered by Wowcher) and wondered what the chances were of getting a similar price after the offer finishes? Quite frankly £9.99pm is about what I think BT Sport would be worth to me, certainly not the £24pm at full price!

You can get it for £9.99/mo (£12.49/mo in HD) with Plusnet, who are actually cheaper than BT for FTTC broadband and have UK-based customer service advisors. Worth a thought.

You don't get access to the app though which is a bit of a miss on Champions League nights.

Thanks- Plusnet is one option I'm considering for that reason and previous good experience with them. As Mr Newshound says, not having access to streaming is a bit of a miss.

Another option for me is Sky if they'll extend my current retention deal so that it ties in with a fibre broadband contract.

Virgin is a very tempting option - well at least their first 12 month prices are. I could deal with loosing Sky Atlantic, but the fact the Tivo boxes don't have an EPG that can be dynamically updated really puts me off.

Depends if you use it or not. All of the "red button" BT Sport streams are on satellite (apart from one I think but no UEFA matches are shown on it) so you can watch them there. I'm in a bit of a different boat since I have my own TV playback setup so I can watch any of the streams (including HD) on any of my devices whenever I want (spare satellite feeds permitting).

Not sure what you mean about Sky being an option, they don't resell BT Sport. I assume you mean getting Sky to subsidise your stand-alone BT Sport subscription, either directly or indirectly via other savings?

Indeed. Though the red button doesn't give you the live-rewind, multi-angle replays etc...

It's possible that ex-BT users might still be able to access the app - I haven't tried personally but I know my BT WiFi still works despite not being with BT for 6 months. Might try that later.

How about BT Mobile for £10 (non BT broadband) and then add the sport for £5.

You could then chromecast it to the tv?

They changed the rules on this from the beginning of this season. You can only Chromecast BT Sport either if you have BT Broadband or if you subscribe to BT Sport on Sky.

I do, sorry for the delay, missed this post before.

Thanks. That decent enough isn't it? I know top of the table game but neither team have mass fan base.

Nigel Pearson has tweeted that he will continue providing the world feed coverage for the Speedway GP this year:

@nigelpearson: Delighted to be on board with @SpeedwayGP for the 2016 season providing world feed commentary. My thanks to all for co-operation. #speedway
@nigelpearson : Also looking forward to another great season with @SkySpeedway - possibly an Easter start. Smashing team to work with. #sensationalspeedway

Presumably still with Kelvin Tatum who also tweeted:

@Kelvin_Tatum: Really happy to be continuing my broadcasting / commentary work for the 2016 speedway season. Can't wait to get going again now!

Previously Sky and Eurosport used the world feed for commentary with their own presentation. With BT Sport taking over coverage this means they will either provide their own commentators, or the same commentary pairing will be the voice of the sport on both BT and Sky.

Man Utd v Sheff Utd got 682,000 for Saturday nights FA Cup game.

Both the Villa game and Chelsea game on Sunday not in the top ten on Media so lower than 530k.

Tottenham v Leicester on BBC got just under 5m (4827) which looks pretty good.
Exeter v Liverpool for the record attracted 5,331.

It'll be the world feed commentary - the highlights show is made for the FA and available to rightsholders. It isn't a BT production.
Mark.

It's a show produced for The FA that uses the international feed commentators.

When does it get to the point where BT start getting concerned football ratings aren't growing as well as they would like?

You'd think the CL rights would have bought about a boost in viewership on PL, but it doesn't look like its has (yet).

When people start ditching overpriced BT line rental and broadband because they've decided BT Sport and BT TV isn't worth keeping. Given how few people are watching BT Sport headline events, and AMC pathetic viewership, I'd say BT are very vulnerable to this happening.

Maybe Sky should do a discounted sports package in return for switching your phone and broadband to them.

Thanks for the Tyler answers.

As for BT ratings.
I think the true test will be the 5.30 contract.
Saturday 12.45 is a hopeless time. And they aren't helping themselves by picking dross like Chelsea v Scunthorpe when they get a Sunday slot.

I will be very interested in the Europa league figures now that the two biggest clubs in Britain are in it.

Chelsea v Scunthorpe 426,000

Premier League
Newcastle v Man Utd 883,000 with a peak of 1.27mil

Far better figures for last night's game which proved to be a classic.

Mind you the 316 must be their lowest of the season?

Liverpool v Arsenal 998,000, with a peak of 1.468 million. Impressive and once again showing the value of the Bank Holiday/Midweek package to BT. They will really miss this next season.
