Got the email this morning too! The price has gone up quite heavily in its few years on air!
Rises to £21.99 from July and another quid for HD.
This is getting ridiculous for sports TV now!

I phoned to "cancel" and got £15.99 a month for HD for the next 12 months with the first 3 months at £10.99 (free HD).

That's a good deal, will phone them this week and see what they offer - certainly won't be paying them £22 a month that's for sure, I'll just cancel if they don't offer a decent price. Edit: £27 apparently, will definitely be leaving if they insist on charging that much!

BT Sport without a BT phone line and broadband for me has now reached a breaking point £32.99 for what they offer in comparison to Sky Sports is bloody ridiculous and I'm seriously considering cancelling now as I have no intention of taking their broadband, my Sky price increase for the full package with movies/sport and multiroom was a £3.50 increase how BT can justify a larger increase for just BT Sport is beyond me.”

Yes, anyone who cares to browse my posts would see I was quite a fan of BT's offering at its initial £12 a month in HD, it's gone up over a tenner a month now though and it's just not justifiable for the content they offer.

Re-reading the email I got, seems it's actually £27 in HD now! No chance BT.

Phoned today and got the same offer as stato77 - £10.99 for 3 months, then £15.99 (the £5 increase is for HD which is free for the first three months) for the rest of a 12 month contract. I'm happy with that as I was paying £17.50 on my previous deal. That's for BTSport on a Sky box.
My only complaint is that it takes so long to get through to the retention people. I spoke to 3 other folk before I got to the guy who could negotiate a deal!

Understandably, BT are pricing BT Sport to encourage subscriptions to their broadband and not Sky's. If you take Plusnet broadband, BT Sport HD on Sky without app access is a more reasonable £12.49.

That's understandable, although they have to be careful not to price it too high and drive away customers - their BT/Plusnet discounted prices are obviously not generating as much profit per subscription as the Sky ones, so they need some Sky customers to stick around. At £27 a month, it's only 50p cheaper than Sky Sports!

It's far cheaper than that, considering you need at least Sky Entertainment to even get Sky Sports, and that costs about as much again.

I was comparing both sports packages on their own merits - it's true that you need the Entertainment pack to get Sky Sports, but if you have it, in a comparison between Sky Sports and BT Sport, Sky offers better content:value ratio for most.

I'll be keeping BT for another year as I was offered the same deal as above earlier - a much more reasonable price. Quite glad I don't have to give up watching EFS which is still the best football show on TV.

I can't speak for stato but I rang the standard 0800 800 150 and mentioned I wasn't happy with the BT Sport price rise, they put me through to retentions / cancellations who offered me the deal.

They originally offered a higher price until I mentioned the details of the deal above - at which point they checked with management for a couple of minutes and then offered me the deal.

Interestingly I went from speaking to a quite rude advisor initially (who told me there was "no chance" of a better price on BT because the standard price "is our only price, full stop". When I mentioned I'd seen the deal above he actually replied "no you haven't"! He eventually grudgingly put me through to retentions who he said "would cancel" for me.

The staff member I spoke to in retentions couldn't have been nicer - said they would want to offer a discount as they don't want customers leaving, actually said they thought £27/month was too high themselves, and to ring back in a year's time for another deal.

All depends on who you speak to I guess!

stumacher7 - I rang 0800 783 1401 which I found on the BT website. It seemed to be the most relevant to BT Sport. However, I initially spoke to someone who just explained the new prices but was unable to offer any deal. She transferred me to a second person who claimed my call had been misdirected. I was then put on to a third person. When I said I was thinking of cancelling, she transferred me to retentions where I was offered the £10.99/£15.99 deal.
Everyone was very polite and helpful but I just don't see why they make it so difficult to get through to the correct department, especially as they seem quite happy to give the discount when you DO get through.

I just got off the phone with BT, I called the 0800800150, told the voice recognition I wanted to cancel BT Sport, the first guy I spoke to immediately offered me a deal of £10.99 for 12 months for the BT sport pack with free HD and multiroom for 3 months, after that I will be paying £21.99 including HD and multiroom but with just a 30 day cancellation period for the HD and multiroom, so I am more than happy with that.

I only discovered on Friday night, when trying to watch the European Challenge Cup final on BT Sport Europe that they've now disabled AirPlay on the BT Sport app unless you're a BT Broadband or BT Sport on Sky customer.

The jammy beggars!

I bought a Chromecast around this time last year so that I could cast BT Sport to it, then they closed that down unless you were on BT Broadband/etc. And now they've done the same to AirPlay for iOS.

What a cheek. I do watch most of it on my iPad, but on rare occasions I do like to stream it over AirPlay to the TV. Or at least, I did!

Very sneaky BT, very sneaky!

what fantastic figures, they will have to go a long way in the future to beat those, sensational peak on both!

They will be over the moon with those.

Did anyone see any YouTube live stream numbers? It normally shows them under the video when watching a live stream on YouTube.

This was the link so I'm guessing the number of 162,706 could be the viewers?

That's subscribers to the BT Sport YouTube "channel" - i.e. those who get BT Sport videos featured in their personalised YouTube home page/email alerts etc.

The live stream viewers could be higher or lower than the number of subscribers.

Jesus , that was difficult , just cancelled BT sport , the woman on the other end of the phone offered me everything to stay from the £10.99 offer to changing my broadband from sky to BT, she even offered to have my children .... , in all seriousness, they don't want to lose you , i want to get Sky Fibre and something has to give , i'll just watch my BT sport via other means , but it is getting too expensive now .
