The ablve link doesn't seem to work. Here is one that hopefully does the trick:

Not happy with it's 'NEW' home. That would suggest SKY then as BT would be it's same home

I think the email was about highlights, so not an exhaustive list of every event that BT Sport has the rights to.

I'm guessing a joint Premier Sports-Eir Sport bid.

Yes, the first part of the email is about highlights. However, the list does appear to me to be an attempt to provide an exhaustive list of every event they have. I can only assume that you haven't seen it yourself. That's why I thought it strange that the Scottish League Cup and Speedway GP were not included as they are recent acquisitions. In any event it doesn't help to answer the question of UFC rights.

If they've picked Premier the bloke in charge deserves to be sacked.

Sounds like the email was written before the two latest rights acquisitions. As you said, doesn't solve the UFC question!

That's a very interesting suggestion. Regardless of who gets the UFC rights, I wonder if we are likely to see Premier Sports included in the BT Sport pack in the UK anytime soon, with the new ownership in Ireland having taken over.

Worth noting that Popeye13 never used the word 'new', it was another poster who asked popeye13 if he was happy with the "new home".

I assume that popeye13's reply was in reference to the new contract and not the fact that it will or will not be a new broadcast partner.

Given the fact that BT are now showing the UFC Live Ultimate Fighter finale the night before UFC 200, I would say this also points to BT and the UFC continuing their partnership.

I know that some have said that it may be a kind of 'thank you' to BT and the UFC has given them the Ultimate Fighter Live finale, but that is not how business works, and certainly not how UFC would act given the way it has previously treated BT.

Therefore when you take all these things into account, if I was a betting man I would put my cash of an new BT-UFC deal. There is only one square that doesn't fit in the round hole of my thinking. For that we need to go back to a point I raised with popeye13 a couple of days ago.

I said in that point that as a rule of thumb, when the current broadcast partner signs a new deal it is normally announced very quickly after the agreement is signed, in a low-key press release, something like this:-

Today the {Name of Sporting Organisation/Rights Management Company} has signed a new {x} year agreement with {Broadcaster}. This agreement extends {Broadcaster}'s coverage of {the sport/event} until {month & year for the end of the contract}.

You would then usual get a printed quote from both the right holder and the broadcast partner to finish off the press release.

It is this that makes me have doubts about BT having the new rights. Why not just announce an 'extention' of BT's coverage and that would be that. There are only 2 reasons I can think of (other than BT not having the new broadcast rights):-

1) The UFC &/or BT want to make the announcement live on the air, possible at UFC 200.
2) A new BT-UFC contract is significantly different that the previous one (possible thanks to UFC Fight Pass) so it may be that there is less UFC on BT with more on Fight Pass.

I've just been told by someone working on rehearsals for the BT Sport version of 'Soccer Saturday' that Mark Pougatch will be the main presenter.

I can't see it working to be honest, certainly as far as ratings go. Given we have Final Score on terrestrial and Soccer Saturday on Sky (and even then it's on Sky Sports News which is available to those who don't have Sky Sports), I don't see space for a BT version that'll work as well or get any sort of worthwhile ratings. I may be wrong, but I doubt it. Certainly not convinced they'd have the sort of coverage of games that Soccer Saturday has (eg a reporter at a game between 2nd and 8th in L2 in mid April).

Get them to find out if BT have retained the UFC rights please? :P

In all seriousness though, in principle it sounds set up to fail, but I guess if they stick it on showcase each week it could take away from the Final Score audience if people tune in earlier (Final score starts about 4:15 rather than prior to 3pm) then they may strike a note there.

I presume the special UFC200 press conference tonight at 8pm that BT Sport have just tweeted is purely about UFC200...

Weren't they always showing the TUF finale?

I'm not sure that Premier Sports would bring BT many new subscribers so probably no benefit in bundling it at the moment. Never say never. Interesting that Premier Sports is on TalkTalk (and VM and Sky) but not BT.

Update: Premier Sports is leaving TalkTalk as that service refocuses around a more limited range of channels.

User @CADPaul on Twitter claiming he's heard Sky have the UFC Deal.... For what it's worth. Wondering if Popeye can tell us if that matches what he's heard. Wouldn't be releasing directly from your source if that's the case.

I wouldn't have thought so as I don't think there's the market for it.

I guess it's possible that a big uk event like Bispings title defence may be PPV but US events starting at 3 am would be highly unlikely.

BT proving once again how unconcerned they are by the potentially tiny audience likely to be attracted by a newly launched show of theirs.

So much of what BT does seems to be motivated not by whether they consider their viewers to want it but purely because Sky do it and they need to emulate it.
