That's certainly a criticism that could have been levied at Setanta, but I don't think it applies to BT. They seem to want to be markedly different to Sky in terms of presentation etc.

There is nothing new about BT showing TUF and the Live Finale, its part of the rights agreement they have.

Im not going to comment further on UFC and TV rights until it is announced.

Perhaps, but I just find it hard to believe that the head of BT Sport woke up one night and thought "I know what our viewers want and need - a Saturday afternoon scores show!"

Sounds like they won't announce until after ufc200. To me that suggests they don't want to confuse people by telling them their is a new broadcast partner before the old one shows a main event. If they were stopping with bt I would suggest they would announce before the event.

My money is definetly on it going to sky, shame as it will pale a bit with the other high profile events sky have and the high cost for sky sports but I suppose that is the nature of sports rights these days. I hope it isn't a decision they live to regret.

BT do run small surveys and one a while ago asked if people would want a football round up program.

Whilst I think its a waste of time, its inevitable they were gonna go for this. What else could they really do?

It might actually be good, and if it has no Robbie Savage on it, it will be!!!!

It could be very good. But sky have such a lead in this field in the pay TV market and the BBC satisfies the FTA market, its almost impossible to break into it.

Many people who have BT Sport do not have Sky Sports News. For those people the current choice (for a TV scores programme) is BBC Final Score or nothing.

If it makes sense for Sky to offer its customers an alternative to BBC Final Score, why wouldn't it make sense for BT to do the same?

It's also important in terms of building the BT Sport brand. Without a scores programme, it gives the impression that BT doesn't offer a complete football service, and it's therefore more likely to be seen as an "add on". A scores programme addresses that.

Popeye's comment about them announcing this new TV deal over here (ufc) contradict what the twitter source claiming sky is saying with regards to the timing of the announcement. Popeye's said this week. Twitter saying after 200 which would indicate next week as they are unlikely to confirm on a Sunday. I think Friday lunch time at the latest or sky are taking this. Seems dumb to announce before 200 otherwise. Unless they're staying put.

If they're staying put surely they would have announced it as soon as the deal was done?

Well it does take a little time to get things wrapped up etc contractually. I also guess they could want to announce during this weekend which is the biggest in the company's history. Kinda would work out time wise etc. Seeing as Popeye says the contract was only signed last week to. Wouldn't be surprising to hold of till then.

I think this was an error in this post as what is new is BT Sport will broadcast the fight pass event on 07th July

Was gonna say that. The FP shows aren't included. Would be odd to buy if your not retaining those rights...

Don't know can't imagine sky taking these rights. Probably stick with BT but there was a report that negotiations had reached an impasse. Who knows. We'll find out soon

And yet the main BT or UFC pages have nothing mentioned about 201 or 202 being on BT Sport so could just be an error on the apps part.

Just so I know, is the general consensus on here that people want UFC to stay on BT?

Yeah I only sub to bt for phone, broadband and sport. All in I think it is good value for money for myself. I wouldn't bother taking out a sub with anyone else to watch ufc. I do enjoy it though.

Yes agree with you could be and hope it stays on BT already pay for sky sports and BT sport wouldn't want it going to premier sports because I'm not paying out for that to

As always you are 100% correct.

I have got rid of sky but still have BT sports so this will come in handy. People are quick to dismiss things. Who would have thought their CL coverage would be such a success and get the wide acclaim it did and deserved. I know it would be slightly different as the 3pm show couldn't show the goals but if you could get the same people involved it has potential to blow SS out the water. I know from other threads that SS is now becoming a bit stale.

I note the Premiership rugby fixtures are now out and the first few weeks of BT Sport live games as per this article http://www.telegraph.co.uk/rugby-uni...or-new-season/

Got a flyer from Eir advertising their BT link-up, and they're stating that McGregor v Diaz (UFC 202) will be on BT, so whether that confirms that a deal has been done is unclear.

Sky have been doing a Saturday afternoon live results programme for twelve years before the BBC relaunched Final Score to do the same. It is not simply an "alternative", they originated the format and have a well established brand and loyal audience. That is a fundamentally different to just doing something for the sake of a brand.

But for non-Sky Sports News households — which must be around half of them as it is a basic channel on both Sky and Virgin — the BBC has now after twelve years also got its own established brand and audience.

Maybe BT can do something original to make the format their own. But with their smaller market share trying to oust one, if not two as I expect many to also have SSN as they receive BT Sport via Sky or Virgin, established programmes it is not unreasonable to question the viability.

And BT Sport will, for English domestic soccer, always look like an add-on whilst it has a minority of Premier League matches and no Football League ones. That said, it has pretty well established its brand anyway. And unless it can do something truly original then airing a lower rated copy of a Sky format, which the BBC has been successfully copying for over a decade, is not going to present their brand positively.
