If VM signs a deal with BT to show the channels, then this will be making the headlines over the weekend along with BT's inaugural EPL coverage. If not, I would expect BT to lump in its Irish subscribers and announce new subscriber numbers have exceeded 2m. ”

Setanta is only available in part of the UK i.e. N. Ireland so how can they have 1.2 million UK direct subscribers?

We're talking about the maximum subscriber levels that Setanta reached before the demise of its GB operations.

First time you try it, you'll be redirected to a BT order page to set everything up (charging you £0.00), then wait 15 minutes for it to work through their system.

But after that it's as you describe, it uses silverlight so you need to install that first (if not already on your system).

I did not say that. But I am saying that now. Google is not a browser. Chrome is a browser made by the Google people. Other common browsers are Internet Explorer (Microsoft) and Firefox. So which browser are you using?

Does anyone who has the Digiguide desktop program know how far ahead the listings go for BT?

I was happy to just use the web version until I discovered that someone wrote a Remote Record plugin for the desktop version - this would be perfect for recording any Ligue 1 / Bundesliga matches that I know I'll be out for, amongst other programmes.

The web listings for BT currently go to 5:30am on August 31st, do the desktop ones go any further than this? If they do, and other channels like Sky Sports, Discovery etc have similarly long listings then I'll certainly consider subscribing.

Do you have details of that Remote Record plugin? That would be handy. I could even mostly get by if they let you rewind live by up to three hours as Eurosport Player does.

Sorry to dredge this up again but given it didn't go onto XL until August 2007, those figures from July 2007 wouldn't have been correct either.

As for the mention of BT pundits not being welcomed back on Sky, they reported the same thing when Setanta was starting up.

So does the Radio Times, but I'm sure that's a cock-up as that's the channels they used to be on and they're using the old headings. Though they haven't removed ESPN from the Virgin EPG.

Could be but they took them out then put them back in again which is a odd error to make and as you say ESPN and ESPN HD are still on the VM EPG
