Clare Balding's show only got 1,200 viewers (no typo) - BangBabes got more viewers. To get an average of 1,200 is equivalent to one BARB panelist (the five minute peak one!!) watching a quarter of the programme. So at most, two people have been used to get one programme's rating (and they could be in the same house). |

Just coming back to the Rangers v Brechin rating - worth noting that Partick v Dundee Utd on BT Sport 1 on 2nd August got a programme average of 35,000 - ie significantly higher than Rangers v Brechin got 8 days later.

Anyone predicting over 500,000 for the Liverpool vs Stoke programme average I think is being optimistic. I expect and think it will be in the 350,000 to 400,000 region.
75 minutes build-up is going to hit the programme average massively and deplete the figure. Peak I think will be shy of 1 million. |

Maybe timeslot too - Partick v Dundee United was a Friday night, whereas Rangers v Brechin was a Saturday lunchtime

Do you have any actual ratings for "Life's a Pitch" - I haven't seen any reported and it wasn't in the BARB top 10 for the first week (ie first 4 days).

I still think the first week 'reach' figure is very low, especially as it included FTA launch night.
Surely, those who have signed up/subscribed would have at least checked the channels are working? 25th July - 500,000 (or 550,000 - I saw both figures mentioned) 10th August - 1,000,000 The first BARB week was 1st August to 4th August. So there were only around 750,000 at that point - or maybe even less if sign-ups are accelerating. |

75 minutes build-up is going to hit the programme average massively and deplete the figure. Peak I think will be shy of 1 million. A peak of 1m would be astonishing assuming it's not on VM XL. There were 1m sign-ups as of 10th August. Even with another 500,000 sign-ups this week that would still only give 1.5m homes. To get 1m watching in 1.5m homes would be equivalent to an audience in all UK homes of approx 17m - at Sat 12.45pm! OK, homes which have signed-up are much more likely to watch but Sky Sports is in 7m homes and they didn't often exceed 1m at Sat 12.45pm by much. |

Leeds v Sheffield Wednesday on Sky at the same time may take a few BT/Sky subscribers away from Liverpool v Stoke.
Two big clubs, although in the Championship. SS2 - Twenty20 Finals Day BT Sport 2 - Aberdeen v Celtic BBC1 - World Athletics Champs So there are four other pretty big live events which are going to split the Liverpool v Stoke audience - plus various other lower profile stuff as well. |

Even Daybreak gets more viewers than that ![]() Surely in the modern world, our viewing habits on the various boxes (Sky, BT, VM, freeview etc) are or can be monitored, and give much more accurate figures? Does anyone know someone who is a BARBer? |

![]() The BARB panel is made up of a cross section of regions (14), sex (2), age group (6) and social demographic (4 minimum). So just to measure one person of each type would need 48 per region, so 672. Average household 2.3, so 292 BARB homes. For the channels everyone receive BARB monitor around 7.5 people of each group. |

It's early so my maths may be wrong, but Ofcom says there are 52.2 million homes with TV in the UK - 5100 people is, I think, 0.009% of that. So you actually have to round up to even get 0.01% of the TV watching population. Not a very good sample is it? |

http://www.skymedia.co.uk/Audience-Insight/skyview.aspx Sometimes they release figures. e.g. last year they said 500,000 watched The Olympics in 3D, whereas BARB had one man and his dog!! |

Ofcom says there are 52.2 million homes with TV in the UK
BARB claims a figure of 27.4m unique TV households. A quick look on a sample size calculator says that for a sample size of 27,400,000, with a confidence level of 99%, a margin of error of 1.8%, and a worst case accuracy percentage of 50%, it would require a sample size of 5,135. Obviously as you get to channels in fewer households then the sample size effectively reduces, but it still provides a general picture that is suitable to the aims of the rating system: informing advertisers. Assuming that BT Sport is in 100 BARB households, the margin of error would be 12.9% at its most extreme. So those 1,200 viewers could actually be as high as 1,354. |

That would mean an average of 1.2 people per home (not accounting for any without TV sets). I would guess that figure is more the total number of TV sets in UK homes,

Where did they say this?
There's a lot of info on the www.skymedia.co.uk website. the Sky !Q Panel is interesting. Quote:
What is the Sky IQ Viewing Panel? Now that's what I call a decent sample!!
Panel = 500k participating Sky homes whose set top boxes report detailed viewing data overnight. |

Primal Scream's 'Come Together' to be BT's EPL theme tune
British rock band Primal Scream have been signed up by BT Sport to create the theme tune for the channel’s Premier League and live event programmes.
Primal Scream have re-recorded the song and [up and coming music producer] (Daniel) Avery has applied his distinctive electronic sound to create the modern remix of the classic ‘Come Together’. Ameria v Villerreal on Monday 19th is listed as Sky Sports Xtra (online).
Not saying that's anything different than previous mind as every Real/Barca game is shown live (aside 3pm blackout conflicts). |

Sorry for the slightly annoying question guys but I'm having Sky installed on Friday between 12 and 5 and I wondered how long it would take for BT to activate BT Sport if I ordered it online once Sky has been installed?
