We've already identified two major glaring errors in the article - who is to say there isn't another one?

I wouldn't pretend to know how many pubs and clubs there are in the UK but I wonder if there is a problem around the definition of a "club"? ie:

Sky Sports is in a lot of golf clubs - which will be counted in the 40,000.

However would golf clubs be counted in the number of "pubs and clubs" in the UK? I suspect maybe, indeed probably, not. If someone said the phrase "pubs and clubs" I wouldn't automatically think they would be counting golf clubs.

So immediately there is the possibility of a mismatch.”

According to the British Beer & Pub Association, there were 50,395 pubs in the UK in 2011. http://www.beerandpub.com/statistics This is not far off from the 2011 estimate from market research firm Key Note of 51,475 pubs.

So allowing for closures I would say about 50,000 pubs in 2013.

I can't see there being another 25,000 clubs. A few thousand, yes.

So Sky Sports may well be in over half of the UK's pubs and clubs if not more.

So in summary to the BT Sport vs Sky argument, whoever may be at fault...

What are the chances of them coming to some sort of wholesale arrangement so I can get BT Sport through my Sky World Multi-room package and BT TV customers being able to have access to Sky Sports too?

I have been waiting to see if there were any developments, but it looks like I will just have to sign one box up to BTS direct with BT. Unless ayone here thinks a deal is likely in the next few weeks?

I would guess that Sky are counting all non-residential Sky Sports subs as being "Pub & Club" rather than the more acurate definition that the British Beer & Pub Association and Key Notes would have used.

Thus the two figures cannot be used together as Sky would be including subscriptions from Bowling Clubs (Very popular in Scotland), Golf Clubs, Gyms/Leisure Centres, Football Clubs, Rugby Clubs, large companies that put sky sports on TV screens in offices (usually Call Centres) ect. the vast majority of these would not be included in the estimated number of 50-51k pubs & clubs in the UK.

I ordered online on Thursday at 5.30pm. Still not activated by 8.30 this morning so called the Easy Assist team number at BT I was given by their customer services dept yesterday once 24 hours since the order had elapsed. 0800 783 0338.

Although the initial message claimed a wait of up to 60 mins, I got through to someone within 10 minutes who effectively reprocessed the order. The channels came on during the call. Trish - I love you

All the Customer Service people I spoke to were very courteous and helpful but they are clearly swamped with enquiries and the online ordering does seem to be causing problems and delays.

Not impressed by the experience of the last 36 hours in terms of the delay in getting the channels activated after ordering but, when you get through, the customer service personnel are very nice and helpful.

Adding packages on the Sky platform can take up to 24 hours. Watching an encrypted channel (Motors TV will do if you only have a Freesat From Sky card) might speed up the process - worth a try.

Do you mean on a PC or through the app?

The PC stream is a long way from HD for me.

Edit:- it's in HD now, must have needed time to warm up!

I don't like the whole live band thing before the build up as it doesn't feel right and has made me turn over to Soccer AM till its over!

Wish they would sort the live sound out. It's always so quiet. Also that song was miming and they only done it today as that song will be the tune for prem lge football on BT sport.

Wasn't sure about the large vertical portrait screens with the gap between each one, but now they have the players on each one etc. it works nice.

Still no 5.1 surround. Are we going to be stuck with 2.0 for the entire season?

I dunno what it is but there's something a bit off about BT Sport. It's trying to do everything - appeal to family audiences, be fun, have serious discussion. Frankly, you have to do one or the other. Sky does the serious approach well (with a few fun bits like Soccer AM), but I almost feel BT are trying way too hard already, and it's not natural. Although that will come with time as the on-screen presenting team gels together.

I had to laugh when Jake Humphrey said Stoke had a good defence last season. Evidently not.

Jake is doing a fine job, always liked him on F1.
Do not like the high moving camera in the studio, just too much of it.
Watching with the iPad app and quality is very good.
The DOG on the bottom of the screen, that is well annoying, why is it there and not at the top.
Hope it moves for the live matches.

Mixed BT Sport reaction on Twitter; I'd say 60% for; 40% against

It's not bad but the build up is just too long.

They've already shown live matches. The DOG stays at the bottom, and is joined by the score in the bottom left.

I'm with VM and have Dolby Digital showing on my amp on HD BTS 1, BTS 2 and Pro Logic on ESPN.

Sound on BTS 1 is very quite though compared to the SD versions
