Whichever game they'd have chosen would've been the opening game of the season

BT have just ditched Yahoo as their email and news provider for broadband customers, and Sky have just gone into partnership with them. Sour grapes? Agenda?

Sorry if it has probably already been mention.

Could Andy Gray and/or Richard Keys make a comeback on BTS?

Probrably true. I noticed Van Persie's 2nd goal was replayed about 6/7 times whereas Sturridge's winner for Liverpool was replayed about 3 times. Sky do overdo it with the replays.

I meant it was the first real game, ie on at 12.45, not the first one on BT or whatever.....To me it seemed like a good opener, but then I may be biased as a fan of one of the teams....

No, BT clearly prefer safe BBC style names. They're trying to be more family friendly and less ladish and Sky clearly, so they're not going to go for people who lost their jobs on Sky, due to sexism.

Keys and Gray are now working in the middle east.

Their general presenting style, really don't fit into what BT are trying to do.

Sure, in hindsight, picking the Arsenal vs Aston Villa game would've been better for BT but maybe they couldn't due to quotas anyway. The Liverpool vs Stoke game was surprisingly entertaining and only great goalkeeping performances stopped it being a goal-fest.

Agreed. Me sadly being an Arsenal fan really enjoyed the Liverpool Stoke game it was really entertaining.

No, whatever game BT picked would have been at 12.45pm. So if BT had picked the Arsenal game, that would have become the 12.45pm kick off and the Liverpool game would have reverted to 3pm. That's why BT would have always had the first game of the season.

Are BT only doing the 12.45 games? ESPN had some 5.30 games and Monday games from looking at a schedule they appear to only have the lacklustre Saturday lunchtime game.

I used to like the 5.30 games on ESPN after the excitement of the afternoon games it was a nice wind down.

Anyone read any reviews or got any links as to what some of the papers said about BT's performance yesterday?

Sky now have the 5.30pm slot.

Most of BT's games before Christmas will be 12.45pm kick offs, but in the new year BT will have the first picks of the mid-week evening games. These will be some of the best games BT get such as Arsenal vs. Man Utd.

Also the FA Cup games will be shown throughout the weekend.

Out of the reports I've read three things seem to be the general theme.
1) Overall, the presentation of the coverage was good and comparable to Sky
2) A small but loud section weren't big fans of Michael Owen
3) The app was a bit of a disaster, and had quite a few technical problems.

Interestingly the 2nd article mentions that the app was getting over 100k people trying to watch through the app (in addition to TV numbers). That's very impressive.

Out of curiousity, are BT always going to have 1hr15 buildup to their PL games? Or was yesterday so long just because it was the first game of the season and their first ever live PL game? Didn't watch it as I don't have BT, but a bit like Sky Sports F1 that has 90mins build up, I feel that anything more than an hours build up (for any sporting event) is too long.

Richard Keys has revealed on Twitter that they did have talks with BT. Clearly BT wouldn't have wasted their time talking to them if they had no intention of employing them.

Starting at the same time (11:30am) next Saturday for Fulham v Arsenal.

I've noticed a hell of a lot of BT adverts during the commercial breaks. Are they struggling to attract advertisers? I think it's fair to say that a large proportion of BT Sport customers are also existing BT customers, so they're advertising mainly to people that already own the product.

That's too long, even taking ad breaks into consideration.

My prediction was 300k, but that was before the VM deal (which I didn't think would happen) and was based on the very low 'reach' figure for the first week, which included an FTA day.

I would say, for the first match and the associated hype, the figures are low.

How many Man U games have BT got? They highlighted one in a TV advert I saw but I wonder if they will have a few more. Man U always rates the best, I believe.

Is the million sign ups that BT reported before the VM deal just TV customers? Or does it include customers who can only access it through the app or online?

Apparently 100k+ customers watched via the app, which in theory should be added to the TV figure.
