I like Aunt Bessie's but those McCain home style ones are good too.

Don't usually like oven chips and don't like BK King fries but I do like McCain's Crispy French Fries and Southern Fries and I like them oven baked rather than deep fried.

The Aldi extra special ones. They're chunky chips and cost £1.79 for 1.5Kg in a black bag.
Lidl's jumbo fries used to be nice, but they were more like chips than fries. I tried their french fries once and they were horrible. Not at all crispy like the ones from fast food outlets, and were soggy and greasy. |

Asda 'Chosen By You' crinkle cut oven chips are the nicest I've ever had. The straight cut ones aren't so great but the crinkle cut are lovely!

Chalk up another one for McCain's Home Fries. Left them thaw out completely then blast them in the oven on a high heat until golden brown, best chips ever (with a Chinese curry sauce drenching them).

Anyone had those McCain Gorgeous Chips that have been basted in dripping? £3 for 500g is a bit steep mind you.
Whilst oven chips are a better approximation of fried chips these days, nothing beats shoving potatoes in a vat of hot oil. My Nan used to do proper lard chips in a pan that caught fire several times. But it was worth it for that golden brown and crisp goodness. |

Another vote for Aunt Bessie's from me. Tend not to like oven chips (rather fry home made chips) but these are the best from what I have tried.

I have tried a few different types in a George Foreman grill. The only one that works really well IMHO is the thin American Fries from Morrisons. They cook well and are succulent - that was unexpected. That might be a combination of the generous sunflower oil coating and the "sealed" grill.
