I really don't like what Channel 5 have done with the show regarding the editing. I hate the fact that we don't actually see any substantial footage in a 1 hour highlights show, I hate the TOWIE-inspired name captions (I think we know everyone's name), I dislike the constant music throughout the programme and the fast-motion editing. It just feels like less of a reality show and more like something you'd see in The Hills. This series is actually the best we've had in the last 5 years so it's annoying that the editing is so bad. Looking at what's been shown on live feed, I'm also shocked at how much the editors miss out the funny/dramatic moments caught on LF in the highlights show. If they want people to keep watching, why aren't they showing the best bits and instead filling the HL show with silly montages?

I completely agree, but the editing is a lot better than when C5 first got the show. CBB8 and BB12 were basically unwatchable because of the level of musical montages and tiny snippets of conversations they fed us. It was all shallow dull as dishwater crap, whereas since then they've at least toned it down a little and we do get some more decent footage.
Still, they do mess with my enjoyment of the show most of the time and they feel really intrusive. I'm really not bothered by the nametags anymore, but the daily waking up montages irk me. Plus all the tasks being played to music and the silly random games in the garden having OTT Marcus commentary. I could do without all of that.
BB was always a show where you would get funny little moments here and there that were so subtle but ended up being hilarious or a great insight into a character. The music and stuff just sorta ruins those little moments that we'd get in the morning.
Edit: I also forgot to add that I'm tired of the previously sections as well. They are usually EXACTLY the same and show nothing of use at all. i am quite fed up of Marcus proclaiming "Housemates went to war!" or a similar metaphor at the beginning of every episode.

their target audience only seems to want to watch arguments but will then vote out any HMs who have featured in said 'entertainment'
thus we end up with bores and those BB have protected by not showing their nasty side

I don't think they are traying to sway a winner. Their goal is votes and votes only. They want to get the maximum number of votes period. I bet this week they have he most votes of the season.
After not watching for a couple of weeks, I caught a little of an episode a couple of nights ago (the Nemesis task). Cue that awful on-screen editing (the "vs" part), and Marcus' godawful bellowing. "The crowwwd areee goinggggg WIIIIILDDDDDDDDDD".
Honestly, he's MURDERING Big Brother for me.

I still love BB, but I agree. I miss the days when it was on C4 and think C5 don't really know what they're doing. Their editing is ridiculous :/ how can they not include Callum screaming into the bed, pretending to act drunk and saying stuff like "it means he wants to put his cock in my arse, Gina" and 'homosexual assault'.
I also miss Davina and the old eviction style was slightly better. Their new best bits is kinda poor in comparison.

I don't even notice the name tags anymore. I haven't been able to watch the live feed much this time so can't really comment on the overall editing but regarding the 'previously' bits, the do overuse them. The one time I think they're good is if there's an argument going on and someone is denying saying something, then they just show a brief clip of them saying it - kind of wish I had that facility in real life!

It really isn't that difficult to get it right but for some reason channel 5/endemol (who are actually to blame?) don't have a clue. I can understand that channel 5 don't want to just completely copy the channel 4 version but at the same time, it worked brilliantly! If you're going to change things, change the bad aspects.
Also, the amount of quality footage left out of the HL show is shocking! Why would they leave out a lot of drama besides trying to influence votes? That in particular annoys me.
