New sim...advice
OK so T-Mobile are replacing my old sim with a new one as I am having issues with the signal and they believe its the sim as oppose to faulty phone.
So once I get the new sim they will transfer my mobile number onto the new sim. I assume I will still have the same tarif and everything will be the same only difference is a newer sim yes? Has anyone had many issues transferring your number onto a new sim? And how long will it take for the transfer to been complete? I'll still have the same mins and texts remaking as I did before correct? |

Yes mate, everything will stay the same, normally it should take 2-4 hours for a sim change, this is from whenever you get the new one from the shop.

I've always been payg so contract is sooo new to me lol. And I get paranoid when changing things over, get scared that my number won't work....won't get calls or texts etc. So once the change over is done it'll best like nothing has changed.
Could a sim card be a reason why signal drops? Cause I pick up 2g signal perfectly but 3g...its been dropping over the last 6wks weeks and my sim is about 6/7 yrs old. |

Dont worry i was the same until i actually found out myself that theres nothing to worry about.
And regarding your bad 3G signal, it ''could'' be the sim yes. I mean where your 3G is bad/low, was this area good once before? can you go to places that were always good but are now not? what im trying to say is, if you go to a friends house 5 miles away for example, if your 3G is good then its not your sim card, if it was the sim card you could go anywhere in the country and it will still be bad |

Cheers for the info. Think I'll still be paranoid till its done. My biggest worry is that people will not get my texts.
And yes...sometimes when I go outside my house to different places, yes the 3g signal wasn't always top bars. And my area prior to 6wks ago....not a single issue, in fact my signal was always perfect. I also wonder if the rollover to 4g and the upgrades to 3g could be an issue. The coverage map on T-Mobile... cannot make any sense of it. Is there a site I could check the signal? |

I did move to Orange for a short time recently then had to move back to vodafone as the EE signal was awful I think it was to do with them switching off masts and the 4G upgrade I also have family on T-Mobile and they are having issues with signal and dropped calls so it could be the network but like any network they never accept responsibility for their signal and if the map says its fine its fine in their eyes.

If the signal was ALWAYS good and the Internet was a good speed and then it suddenly went rubbish then it could be the network doing work/maintenance on a local mast. But if that's the case they should be able to tell you that with a quick check on their computer. Seeing as their giving you a new SIM card then that tells me they are saying the mast is fine |
