Following on from a post in another thread.

If the housemates had been "regular" contestants; i.e. we knew nothing about them before they entered the house; would the voting/evictions have been any different?

Assuming Germaine had still walked, based on how much their behaviour in the house entertained me, my final three would have been

Jackie
Kenzie
and, gulp! John

IMO they would have fallen in the same way. Partly because they are all little known and partly because I don't think the "celebrity" thing cuts it any more. There's no myth or mystic... "celebrities" are just people who have to behave and try to look good when they go out in case they get their picture taken by the press! They are trying to make it big - being famous is a lot different than being "celebrated."

Unfortunately, in this age of a new celeb every 5 minutes, the wages are dropping. Many people, myself included, earn as much if not more than your average fly-by-night celeb, but we don't have to spend it on the pretend trappings of our fame.

I live in an apartment building where a few well known faces live... They have the right address but the cheapest apartments. Many have never changed the furniture package that came with their flat (Habitat supplied I think!)

It's all a bit sad really.

I have to say that CBB2 for me was "who are these celebrities?" I didn't watch; no interest absolutely. CBB3, I noted more than a few "names" I considered "celebrity" and I watched.

Overall, I'd say that "celebrity" is a very open word to Endemol.


Give us some real good ones and we'll be glued.


Give us some hopefulls and wel'll be trying. Well that's the score from me. 4m viewers or more. Yeah, you can get more, but you need a really good "cast" Endemol; this one was not it.

For example:

Caprice would have worked on the make up counter in Debenhams
Bez would have been selling the Big Issue in the town centre
Kenzie would have been unemployed and hanging around outside KFC with his chav mates
Brigitte would have been a traffic warden (scary)
Jeremy would have been a car salesman
Germaine would have been a schoolteacher (phew that's a bit close)
John would have been the bloke who's always in front of you at Sainsbury's with a problem at the checkout
Lisa would be the girl in the office who knows everyone and has done everything (twice)
And Jackie? Maybe she'd be the old lady buying make-up from Caprice!
