Stelios has a new chain starting aiming at a step below Aldi and Lidl for basic foods.

Only a pilot store first to maybe roll out next year.

Could work if it sells basics in bulk at less than the cheaper supermarkets.

So the self-checkouts will be free, but if you want a human checkout it's a £5 surcharge.

Most likely be entirely self-checkout I guess.

The UK supermarket, and convenience store sector is already swamped.

This will fail.

Want to use a trolley? That's an extra £1.

Want the cashier to scan it for you? £2 please.

I think some people are confusing Easyjet with Ryanair.

It says here no brand food. It will need one hell of an advertising campaign to get consumers to trust it.

The orange colours will be good though, won't make packaged food look too cheap.

Don't Easyjet charge for 'extras' too?

Careful packing your bags. Too much in them and they'll charge you £40 to take them out of the store.

Aldi and Lidl aren't that cheap anymore and I doubt you could do a full weekly shop at any of the above.
