Crikey, I didn't realise I actually love most of the longer-term Corrie characters! Took me ages to complete the Poll.

Thanks for the votes so far.
![]() Mine are: Deirdre: She has come alive since Ken's 'departure.' I'm loving her scenes and it's great that she has finally wised up to Tracy. I love her scenes with Peter and Carla. I think she's one of the characters that has benefited from SB's takeover. Roy & Hayley: Their current storyline is heartbreaking and it's sad to know that we only have 5 more months of scenes between the pair. I'm glad they're getting something to get their teeth into but I don't want her to die (even though I know it has to happen) I've always loved them as a couple and adding Sylvia to the mix created a great unit. Sylvia: I'm always liked her, her sharp tongued wit never fails to amuse me. Stephanie is an asset to the show. Very sad to hear that she is currently unwell. I wish her a speedy recovery. Gail & Audrey: The Platts are my favourite family and I love the deep history these two share. The Lewis story was great and even with them taking a bit of a backseat in the current revenge plot, they remain among the best. I hope Aud gets her damp sorted out. ![]() Kylie: She has grown on me since Becky's departure. I think her pairing with David is genius. Paula is so underrated and I'm loving her coming to the forefront of the show. I think her best is yet to come. Carla: Again, I've liked her now since the Liam story but recently I think she's been extra great. She hasn't had any major stories but her being torn between her brother and fiancé, scenes with Hayley and Deirdre have been great. Tina: I thought Michelle was great during the surrogacy story climax. She really carried it because I didn't like many of the other characters involved. I've always had a soft spot for her since her very first episode. I hope her exit does her justice. Mary: Surprisingly...... I think she's another character that has flourished under SB. I loved her playing nanny to the Alahan kids and I think they've really fleshed her out in recent times. She's better away from Norris. Her scenes with Roy earlier this year were great too. I liked her giving them her motorhome to them for their holiday. Nice touch. Norris: Again a character I've always liked. Everyone knows a nosey parker like him and I enjoyed his recent story with Emily, even though it touched more on the negative traits to his character. Beth: I think she's the best new addition to the show in a while. Her partnership with Kirk is great and Craig helps to bring out the softer side to her character. She fits in perfectly in the factory too and works with any character. |

Deirdre Barlow: loved her scenes recently, but I hope she isn't going to keep blaming Rob for Tracy's problems.
Audrey Roberts: really love the actress and think Sue Nicholls is a great actress. Sally Webster: like Sally and only one out of the Websters (for what is left of them) that I like. Steve McDonald Norris Cole: such a great guy. Needs to remove Rita from the shop. Roy Cropper: best actor and male character in my opinion. Hayley Cropper: great actress and female character, really doing well in this storyline. Nick Tilsey: Ben Price is my favourite actor and I like him. Dev Alahan: might be in the minority, but really enjoy Dev and think Jimmi is a good actor. Peter Barlow Kirk Sutherland: good for the light relief. Carla Connor Mary Taylor Kylie Platt: really like the actress and like Kylie now. Hope she leaves David and gets together with Nick and I prefer them both than their partners. Sylvia Goodwin: really great interactions with Roy and Hayley and a really good actress. Hopefully Stephanie Cole gets well soon in order to return. Eva Price: really underused in the Price Family. Gloria Price: prefer her without Stella rolling eyes in the background. Liked her interactions with the regulars and her opinions on the "racist" matters. Karl Munro: great actor, hopefully the door is left open for him. Beth Tinker Craig Tinker: best teenage character without being a brat or selfish. They need to give him more time though. Brian Packham: I like him with Julie, but wish he had more to do. Sad
Spoiler
Paul Kershaw: feel like I am in the minority who like this character. He seemed more of a real character, he lived in the street but had a good job which was outside the street and had friends outside the street. Aadi & Asha Alahan: my favourite child characters. Thought they did well during the Sunita business and they seem natural, and don't come off as obnoxious. |

My votes:
Carla - Brilliant character, brilliant actress. Loving her scenes with Deirdre and Hayley. I too have enjoyed the scenes where she has been torn between her brother and her fiancé. Curious about where they intend to take the story line. Deirdre - She's funnier / less 'dreary' without Ken. Loving her scenes with Carla, Peter, Steve, Eileen, Tracyluv and love the way she puts Rob in his place. Kylie - Always liked her. I also like her and David together. Hayley - Great actress. The story line has been written brilliantly so far. Again, I am enjoying her scenes with Carla. |

My votes:
Deirdre Barlow - Fantastic character, brilliant comic timing. She always makes me laugh or smile. She's wonderful to watch. I thought she wouldn't be the same without Ken but I was so wrong. She's come into her own since he's gone. Gail Platt - How can you not love Gail? Again, I think she has good comic timing. She's been involved in some of the greatest Coronation Street storylines. She has such a rich history with the programme, and she's still involved in some of the best plots which blend drama and humour perfectly.Roy Cropper - he's been brilliant lately with all the storylines that have been thrown at him. He's such a natural actor, and his relationship with Hayley feels very real and true to life. It's like you are watching real life with him, Hayley and his mother. Hayley Cropper - she's playing a blinder with her cancer storyline so far. Hayley has such a good heart, and again the relationship she shares with Roy is something that's so special to watch. Lately, these characters have proved that you don't need a slanging match, with lots of shouting and physical violence to show human drama. They reveal everything they are feeling with such subtlety. Sylvia - she delivers her lines brilliantly. she has some great one liners and again, the relationship she shares with Roy feel such like real life. I'm sad to hear that the actress is unwell. Nick Tilsley - I'm a big fan of the actor who plays him. I think his character is a good guy, someone to root for. Someone who has made mistakes but ultimately is good and wants to do the right thing and make the best out of himself. Leanne - Jane Danson has put in some excellent performances in the past - she's one of the best actresses in the show, her performance in the live episode for the 50th is very memorable. OK, she is annoying at times... but aren't we all annoying from time to time? ![]() David Platt - I just love his character when he turns bad, like he is right now! I love seeing his facial expressions as we try and figure out what evil deed he is planning next! Peter Barlow - a great alpha male on the show. He's a flawed character, but he's a character with lots of depth and a lot of history. His relationship with Carla is one of the best on the show. Carla - again, I love her partnership with Peter. She's also feisty, intriguing and also very caring. Her relationship with her brother obviously has a lot of layers to it, and she's showed her caring side towards Hayley lately. She's just a great multi-layered character, brilliantly portrayed by Alison King. Kylie Platt - Paula Lane is excellent. She's great at playing out the dramatic scenes, but she also makes me laugh as well. I think she has potential to become a classic character in years to come, like Sally, Gail, Rita etc are now. I hope she sticks around. Tina - I've really sympathised with her during the surrogacy storyline. I just think she's a likeable character, and a pretty decent actress as well. I think she's quite underrated as an actress. Stella Price - I think she has a very good presence on the show. I like all the storylines she's been involved in. She's a feisty character and really suited to the role of landlady in the Rovers. Michelle Collins was a good actress to get on the show. Eva Price - she reminds me a bit of Rosie Webster and I think she fills Rosie's role quite nicely. She's quite ditzy, very funny... she delivers some good lines and I think she has great potential. We haven't seen the best of her yet. I hope she gets a big dramatic storyline all to herself in the near future. Gloria Price - I'm a massive fan of Sue Johnston anyway, but this character has really made me laugh with her one liners. I love her brash, tactless character. Beth Tinker - one of the best recent additions to the Street. She's a very funny, warm and likeable character and I like seeing her relationship with her son Craig and her relationship with Kirk makes me smile. I think she has the potential to be a classic Corrie character. Overall, I love most of the characters on Coronation Street. They're all multi layered, interesting characters. Most importantly, they're likeable and I care about what happens to them. |

Carla Connor - absolutely stunning and witty and sexy and divine! She is fabulous. So many different layers to her character and it's nice to see her caring side - a result of her relationship with Peter perhaps. They are so good together. The acting with those two is always excellent.
Peter Barlow - probably wouldn't have chosen him in the past but I've changed my mind about him since he's been with Carla. Sylvia - hilarious and brilliant. Reminds me of Blanche a lot. She steals pretty much every scene she's in. When Sylvia was first introduced, it seemed like she was there as a supporting character for Roy and Hayley but I think it's the other way around now. She gets the best lines anyway and their scenes together are always great. |
