Lab grown Meat would you eat it ?
Although this is not the first time lab grown meat protein has been made into a burger and consumed, I read about it in "The Scientific American" at least a year ago and I'm sure it has been on television recently. But would I eat it well yes why not Meat is just chemicals and proteins etc..but before hans I think it may be a good idea to get people who understand flavour and texture a bit more someone like Herve, Blumenthal or perhaps Harold McGee,
But as a principal there's nothing wrong with the idea? |

I'd try it. Doesn't mean I would prefer to real meat though.

It's a trick, the commentator on the BBC 24hr news said the stem cells were taken from a cow, and turned into hamburgers. The last time I heard ham came from a pig.

The Ham in Hamburger refers to the "Hamburg" bun used and not the meat or the would have to call most of them "Mixed Slurry Meat'ish Burgers".

I would try this new meat no problem at all. It doesn't mean i'd prefer it though over other meat. It sounds though its pretty tasteless given it has no fat cells in apart from the added butter. The point of not pricking your sausages is that all the juice flows out leaving you dry sausage. Quote:

Yes I would try it and if it was as tasty as normal meat then good. Even if it tasted different to normal meat, if there was flavour there, great.

The technology is far from mature at this point. There is still much left to do before there is a viable product from it. When they do figure it out, obviously there will need to be fat marbled in with the protein for it to taste right, among other differences. But I think in 50 years, real meat will be a luxury product that you have to pay a premium for, and supermarkets/cheap restaurants will serve cloned meat by default. And most people won't pay extra, just like they consume mostly factory farmed and processed foods now to save a little money. People will consume it without even thinking about it, because there is just "meat" in things and people don't care to look to closely into the details, so producers are incentivized to go with the cheapest option.
