I have just bought a puppy and brought him home last night. He is 8 weeks old. We already have two dogs, 1 of which is absolutely fine and is only interested in his ball. The other one (a girl) tries to get on top of him, sit on him, paw him quite heavily aswell and I'm a little worried they wont get on. I understand that is has only been 24 hours and I don't want to keep telling my dog NO as its not fair.

Any advise would be appreciated x

Stand back a bit and see what the pup does, when we got teeny Betty earlier this year Mollie wanted to sit on her at first but Betty wasn't having any of that and scooted out of the way, didn't take Mollie long to decide to mother Betty and has been gentle with her ever since. If anything we have to tell Betty to be gentle now.

My girl doesn't like high pitched noises so when my pup barks she gets wound up. I honestly think she would never ever intentionally hurt him, she is just a big dog. She socialises with dogs all the time and is walked off a lead and we have a few friends with dogs who we look after so she is always in contact. I genuinely think it is just the high pitch barks and whine noises that he makes that gets her and obviously he jumps about etc. I'm sure it will settle soon enough x

8 weeks is quite young for a puppy to leave its mother. I brought a 12 wk puppy home to 3 other dogs. The puppy just went to each and licked their faces, my dogs were ok with her, if she bothered them too much, they gave a little growl. She soon learned.

I would also just let them get on, keep an eye, the older dogs will teach the younger one to behave.
And enjoy them all, dont worry too much.

Pups need a dog to be rough with them, it teaches them boundaries etc, just let them at it and see how they get on, watching for any nastiness. Yogi barked at Archie for a solid 20 mins on his first visit. They're fine now.
