She has uploaded a recipe for her new album and it says that it has to have 5 million servings=5 million album sales..do u thinkthat the label is being delusional about the sales figure when her last album didn't sell even 2 million..or do u think this is their goal for the album?

Possible, but unlikely. Circus was more commercial and it saw a rise in sales WW, 4m.

Fun fact, if wikipedia is to be believed, if they hit 5 mill with this album it'll push her over 100 million album sales (including 7m compliation)

Impressive!

Maybe that's the reason that they chose 5 million?

I'm pretty sure that recipe was fan made. She just reposted it. I doubt her team is aiming for 5 million sales, as great as that would be.

Britney hasn't had a studio album sell 5m+ copies in nearly a decade, it's very unlikely Album 8 will change that - especially with Femme Fatale only scraping 1.5 last time around.

album sales generally are not good at this time, but its not completely impossible. sure, the odds are statistically against her, but stranger things have happened. all her albums since "in the zone" have either had promotional campaigns cut short or the promotion has been atrocious on her part. if she actually puts in the required effort and if actually does up her game a fair few notches, then its not completely beyond the realms of possibility.

her music generally is not really the issue, but she has a lot of work to do, if she really does want to get back on top form.

Without a doubt I believe Britney's eighth studio album can achieve sales of 5 million worldwide IF she embarked on a major WORLDWIDE promotional tour with TV/Radio/Print interviews and of course stage performances.

In reality I think Britney will not commit herself to that much promotion and at the most we can expect a decent amount of promotion (Circus era) or at the very least very minimum promotion (Femme Fatale era).

It's such a shame that Britney hasn't really promoted an album extensively since 2003's In The Zone. Her music is brilliant.... it's just she doesn't bother reaching out to a wider audience other than her core fan base which is rather disappointing.

Going back to my original point though, she is definitely able to achieve 5 million album sales.... because she is of the biggest stars in the world, she's just gotta put the work into it.

I still reckon Britney will have that big comeback

Like Madonna's Ray of light, Cher's Believe or Mariah's Mimi album

All in good time. She is still only young.

I wouldn't ever write Britney off to be honest. She is America's sweetheart but I think in modern terms Katy Perry has replaced her so its where Britney now fits in. All popstars struggle once they get past 30. Its just a fact of life so the best thing she can do is aim for a mature sound rather than aiming for electro RnB.

No, I don't think that's possible for Britney at this stage.

I have a feeling the album is going to surprise people. I think that will be her critics moment and a massive era. With her writing again and being creatively involved, it seems like her passion is back so I wouldn't rule out worldwide promotion if she really believes in the material.

I think doing the X Factor has done wonders for her confidence. The aftermath of her breakdown really knocked her for six but I feel she's finally found that sparkle in her again.

Of course not! I doubt GaGa and Katy will reach 5 million and they're actually relevant outside from their fanbase!!

Britney's album will sell somewhere in the range of 1 - 3 million depending on promotion or lack of thereof, on the quality of the material and on the competition of the market at the time she releases. If, for example, the album sounds like 'FF' 2.0., is poor promoted and released in early 2014, missing out on the holiday sales, I can see it barely crossing the 1 million mark.

Like a previous poster said, I think thats just a fan made thing she re posted

Anyway as a fan I do have a really good feeling about her upcoming era i haven't been this excited for one of her albums in ages. This year she's been constantly spotted at dance studios, and this time around she has gained back some of her control over her album so it seems to me she's taking this era serious & putting the work in I do hope there's a decent ww launch for the album

She will be lucky to sell 2million and that will be good for her. At this moment she's not in the same league with Gaga/Katy/Rihanna who will all sell more than her.

I doubt it to be honest, she doesn't do promotion even though she could film all of her promotion in a week

Get set up in a hotel, she could do Daybreak, BBC Breakfast, This Morning and Loose Women (the main daytime shows) in one day and get the shows to schedule them on different days, film a performance of old and new songs for a show like MTV Live Vibrations, record a performance on X Factor and Strictly (the main winter prime time shows) throw in a couple of chat shows like Graham Norton and Alan Carr, pre record a load of radio interviews on Radio 1 and Capital along with a few local stations and she has a UK promo tour done in 4 or 5 days that can be put out over 2 weeks before the single/album launch

Without promotion she won't top FF

Worldwide yes she can. She just needs to go back to doing heavier promo, this album sounds like it's gonna be epic.

If the material is strong and she is willing to do a lot of WORLDWIDE promotion for it AND not sound like a robot in every interview then I believe she could sell around 5 million.

Two other things she could do 1) not let her team tell interviewers what questions to ask, asking more personal things may make her more approachable to the general public.
2) and this is a must, NO LIP-SYNCHING.

The problem she has is that her only solid market is the US, and Fatte Female didn't even do that well there.

Can Britney Spears sell 5m? Absolutely.

The problem here is that Britney hasn't been the Britney Spears who was on top of the world, for quite a while. She's never going to get back to where she used to be. The brand "Britney Spears" is quite a lot different from the Britney we've seen/heard for the past... Oh, 8 years or so. She used to be a personality, she used to have the x-factor, she used to love doing what she does.

Does anyone really feel like she's even a fraction of what she used to be... I mean, honestly? Hand on heart?

I think she could use a couple of years out of the spotlight, get treatment, completely change her management and get rid of the people who are only out to exploit her and cash in on her. Maybe then she'll be on the way to the "old" Britney, and able to sell 5m.

Right now? Probably not. I can't see her doing what's necessary to get those kind of sales.

I should do this for a living, I wouldn't even want much money and I think the majority of ideas I have are better than the muppets that call themselves managers these days, its not hard to plan a promo tour for one of the worlds biggest stars, Daybreak, Loose Women and local radio stations would love to have a major worldwide artist on their schedule
