EE - Who do you think the new producer will axe?

Its pretty much a certainty that every new Executive Producer of EastEnders likes to make an early mark by axing a few characters that they think arent working.

Since we found out that Dominic Treadwell-Collins will be replacing Lorraine Newman, which characters do you think he will want to get rid of?

Now despite your personal views, be realistic... i think its doubtful a new producer would axe a 'big beast' like Dot, Ian or Phil... but which characters do you think realistically will be given the boot under the new exec?

Any views?

Alice for sure... id also add Kirsty, Poppy and Fatboy to the list.

But Joey? Nah I think he's popular with a lot of fans, and the Lauren/Joey relationship thing is a bit of a crowd pleaser.

AJ... yeah they have done nothing with him... but I dunno, I think they could be lining him up long term for... Kim? Of course the new producer may not like that idea though.

i agree with sharon for the axe, walford has moved on and her presence isn't needed anymore, she seems outdated unlike other popular returning characters (carol, kat, bianca and janine).

I'd say the Hartmans are the most likely but I'd get rid of Alice and Joey as well and give AJ something to do or I'd axe him as well.

I'm hoping:

Billy, Kirsty, Alice, Joey, AJ and Tamwar.

I think DTC will first look at the writing team and then go from there. I guess he will look at every character one by one and then make his decision.

I am not sure if there will be a massive cull- it maybe done in stages.

Did he axe many in her stint a few years ago?

Only amongst teen fans (usually on social media). The majority of adult fans seem to loathe the character and his pairing with Lauren. They find their "love story" to be dull and tedious - in short, a damp squib of a storyline. I see it on every soap forum and newspaper article related to EE, so it's not only DS.

But unfortunately, I do see Joey staying on the show, purely because he is eye candy. If he left, there would be a eye candy void in his age range, so I think DTC will keep him on for that reason. Shallow I know, but that's soaps for you.

David Witts seems like a nice lad but sadly he can't act.

There is eye candy out there that CAN act.

Question is, does DTC have the balls to make these big decisions? Newman and Kirkwood didn't, hence their failure to make their mark on the show. It remains to be seen. We'll know more in the coming months

I think he will but he won't axe Sharon despite the Sharon haters on here wanting that...

Indeed, such as Nigel Harman (Dennis) and Robert Kazinsky (Sean). It's time EE started casting actors like that again. Personally, I don't need eye candy to watch a soap, but if they really need to bring in eye candy - then at least cast an actor with good acting skills to go along with the pretty looks.

Yeah, I'm interested to see what DTC does with Sharon. Hopefully, he will put her on a better path with a good long-term story arc (let's face it, painkiller addiction plot was a flop and they need to move on from it) and make her more likeable again. I'd like to see her become a Pat-like figure to the residents. At the moment, Kat seems to be taking on that role with her mentoring the likes of Kirsty and Whitney.

Carl's Brother looks like a good bet- maybe he will become a regular...

Adam could be good, but I'll reserve judgement on him until I see him onscreen. He made a brief appearence in one episode months ago, but you can't base an opinion on that.
