I doubt it, given that they've since corrected themselves

Why is this gimmick getting people so excited?

Honestly I couldn't care less what name my Coke bottle had on it, be male, female or beast.

It's one of the most brilliant yet irritating marketing campaigns, surely.

I couldn't be the first bit bothered but everywhere on Twitter and social media it's 'I'VE FOUND MY NAME' or instagrams with two coke's and a loved up couple 'Sarah and Mark' bottles next to each other.

You'd honestly think there was a prize or a free coke on offer if the bottle had your name on it... to think people buy this just because of the name. Mass marketing at its best.

The article made me metaphorically despair though, to Queue for a personalised name. Do people really have nothing better to do?

Because your name is the sweetest word in your vocabulary and when people use it you feel special and valued.

Coke must be rolling in money right now

I was unconvinced about this campaign at first - and that's coming from someone "in marketing" and a fan of Coca-Cola. But it's been phenomenally successful considering it is, in actual fact, a very simple idea.

It's obvious - people like things/products/brands which have been personalised to suit them. It's why people spend £££ on personalised number plates for their car. It's why they spend £££ on phone covers with their picture on it. It's why people customise fashions, etc. etc.

As for whether people have nothing better to do - the answer is probably... no, they don't. Or they don't mind. Seriously, as far as this campaign is concerned, what's the harm in waiting in line for something you don't get the chance to buy every day?

I agree with the sentiment and everyone's right to do what they want with their own free time; but the thing I can't get my head around is the thing they're waiting for is... a personalised bottle of cola.

One thing is for sure; after all that queuing I hope they keep the bottle after they've drunk the contents.

I dislike this campaign, mainly because our local garage has stopped selling diet cherry coke to make room for the named bottles, so I can no longer buy my favourite pop on way to work.

is it such a brilliant marketting campaign though, i've lost count of the number of times my mrs has fancied a coke but then not bothered and bought something else because she couldn't find her name

That is not allowed it has to be your name that is printed on the label and if you have a strange name then you need to bring I.D to prove that is your name. It is their policy.

No, for the above reason.

http://www.coca-cola.co.uk/faq/produ...coke-tour.html

Scroll down to "Can I get a bottle of Coke personalised with my name"

It can only be your first name and if your name is not already on a bottle then you need to bring I.D.

As long as it's official and is not offensive then yes you would qualify but only if you brought identification for the Coke Police.

Just change your name to 'Coke' and have it on all the bottles.

Because the people whose names aren't already on bottles need to prove to society that they aren't a second class citizen?

Well I guess I am a pheasant, I haven't actively looked out for my name on the bottle but I know I haven't seen or found it!

Maybe they don't want people getting one with "Pepsi Is Better" or "C**t" on it
