Standard EE Complaint.....
Fridays episode was the sparkle of hope, but its back to its 'best' this week.
Obviously we need to be patient and wait for DTC to work his magic. I just do not understand how it got this way. since the turn of the year it has just become SO dull. Lack of meaty stories is an issue. Laurens drinking is the only one I can recall. Sorry to add to the EE hate threads on here but needed to get it out! |

I've posted several rants on here about Lorraine Newman. She has got a lot to answer for. Things are about to get worse with the upcoming Alice and Tamwar storyline

It really worries me what other ridiculous storylines are on the way. In my opinion storylines likes these should have been binned because they make a mockery of EastEnders. Alice and Tamwar are two of the most boring and hideous characters and they clearly contribute nothing special to the soap. If they disappeared for good nobody would notice.
If this is the kind of crap Lorraine Newman thinks the average viewer wants to see then she's an even bigger moron than I previously thought. I have nothing but contempt for her because as a viewer she has really pissed me off. I am one of several million who hardly bothers watching EastEnders and all the while garbage storylines like these keep being introduced it will cause even more viewers to switch off. I wouldn't be at all surprised if viewing figures plummet further to 3 million. Lorraine Newman will go down in history as one of the most incompetent and moronic EastEnders bosses. She's worse than Louise Berridge. The sooner these fairytale Newman storylines are finished the better. EastEnders always used to be about drama but under Lorraine Newman we've had boring storylines which have been dragged out for months and months and EastEnders is a long way away from its glorious days of real drama and storylines which had viewers on the edge of their seats who didn't want to hear those famous duff duffs! |

Berridge was a victim of circumstance - you only have to read the interviews post EastEnders to realise the problems behind the scenes and how much had to be rewitten.
Personally I think Kirkwood was the worst. He really destroyed the show. Newman hasn't been great but I think there's enough foundations in place and changes under her tenure to give DTC something to sink his teeth into. |

Between them Kirkwood and Newman introduced some of the most appalling and hideous characters:
Joey, Alice, Kirsty, Derek, Lucy (the recast is awful), AJ, Tyler, Anthony, Ray, Ayesha and Danny. |

Because it's an accurate description of Alice and Tamwar. How would you describe these pair of dorks?

I really don't know why they haven't just cast Kirsty as a prostitute. She doesn't work for me - all just lips and scant clothing, she is an absolutely dreadful actress. Tonight was a shocker from her and talk about rough looking. I really don't get why they brought her in only to show that Max's standards have never really waivered. Yep, tonight was back to dreadful. Don't get me started on the ferrari repossession. So Danny's never seen Tyrone in the pub let alone working on the market etc - PATHETIC
I guess the only good thing about the episode was Tyler's exit. Hopefully we'll never see that moron ever again. It's just a shame he didn't take Alice, Joey and Kirsty with him. |

I dread to think what else is on the horizon. Phil shacking up with Dot? Nothing would surprise me with Lorraine Newman. When Louise Berridge was sacked in the autumn of 2004 most of her current and planned storylines were immediately binned by her successor Kathleen Hutchison. It was hard work but it paid off. I was so glad to see the back of the stupid Real Walford storyline. EastEnders was in a terrible state when Louise Berridge was in charge but binning her daft storylines resulted in a huge increase in viewers and the same would happen again if crap storylines like Alice and Tamwar, Janine, Michael and Danny, and the endless Kirsty and Max saga were laid to rest once and for all. Axing Berridge's crap characters such as the dire Ferreira family also worked - something which needs to happen with the pointless and boring Kirkwood and Newman creations: Alice, Joey, Kirsty, AJ and Lucy Beale (bring back the previous actress!) to name but a few. Other snorefest characters who need to go include Billy and Tamwar. |

Around circa 2001 EastEnders had this slogan:
'EastEnders. Everyone is talking about it.' People were talking about it because of the strong cast and storylines. I remember hearing a group of people talking about it on a train back from London, and many of my friends and work colleagues were also talking about it. People are still talking about EastEnders today but for all the wrong reasons... |

Such a true statement...
How long before DTC announces the first axings I wonder? |

To be fair to Newman she did try and rebuild the Beales. The casting wasnt solely down to her and I'm probobaly in the minority that actually likes the Beale family now. Also I really like Kirsty but I am sick of the merrygoround storyline she has with Max. I'd rather Max left than Kirsty. I agree mostly with the other posters that say Joey, Alice, Tamwar, and AJ need to go. I'd throw Masood in too along with Kim and Fatboy. I think Tam, Mas, and AJ should reunite with their wives. Its actually ridiculous that AJ, Mas, Tamwar and Syed all have failed marriages. What are the odds that 4 men in the same family would all be divorced/separated from their wives and all in the space of 2 years? Kim can just go live with Ray. I think for Alice's exit she should have a brief onscreen affair with Fatboy and the pair can move away so as not to rub it in Poppy's nose. eventually I'd pair Poppy with Peter and tone down her ditzyness overtime and make her a bit more business like and ambitous somewhat like Ian but not as weasle-ish. I think the actress is capable of more than the crappy comedy filler plots that they give her.

Masood and Zee were together a long time and produced 4 children and a grandchild as well, so a successful marriage to a degree. Apparently in real life, divorces amongst older couples are becoming more common. |

They are becoming more common but the vast majority of failed marriages are in younger people. Highest are amongst those who married under the age of 21 and people who are not marrying the first time.
And EE rot set in long before Kirkwood he just didn't help matters. He did however save Janine from the mess DTC/Santer made her. |

Janine, after hitting Kat and Stacey stands in the middle of the club and shouts 'COME ON THEN, IF YOU THINK YOU'RE HARD ENOUGH!' . |
