Vodafone 4G to launch on 29th August & will cost £5 a month extra
Vodafone UK has just announced its 4G network rollout will begin on August 29th (it had said previously by 21st September), catching up with O2. London will be the first city to go live. Twelve more locations will get switched on before the end of the year, including : Birmingham, Bradford, Coventry, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham and Sheffield.. Price plans will begin at £26 a month (SIM only, for 2GB of data) Existing customers with an LTE handset can upgrade their plan for an extra £5 a month. As a sweetener, Vodafone is throwing in unlimited data for the first three months.

So double the amount of data on a £26 SIM only plan compared to EE.

The city list doesn't even cover Newbury? I guess it's assured that their building would have coverage but you'd think they'd do the town they are based in, first.
I wonder if they'll make sure that 4G coverage ends up being superior to their totally lacklustre and poor 3G coverage. |

Wow, they are just starting now. What do you expect? 90% coverage?
Where I work (Oxfordshire) Vodafone has splendid 5-bar 2G coverage, BUT no 3G (at all!) and NO PLANS for 3G (or 4G) over the next 12 months. Even in towns and cities nearby 3G is patchy. They are *BY FAR* the worst mobile company for 3G near to me - and I will be getting rid of them as soon as contractually possible! |

Couple that with either Spotify Premium or Sky Sports thrown in and that's pretty good - until the three months has gone and you see how quickly your data allowance gets eaten up.

TBF the dongle price isn't a bad deal £20 for 4GB considering they charge £15 for 2GB on 3G

The 3G coverage seems to be switched off in parts of Edinburgh right now so they must be preparing for 4G

Normally you will find PDF's and press release here but I don't see it
![]() http://www.vodafone.com/content/inde..._releases.html It's clear that image is probably from some full document that covers sim only prices and MBB pricing and some other info as well. |

At least EE made our capital 4G within a couple of months of launch and Wales too. Poor show by O2 and Vodafone, particularly with the upgrades over the last couple of years, that they haven't bothered to involve NI in their launches...

Vodafone should sort out their 3G first before spending money on 4G.

That award goes to O2 in my area, so I'm switching to 3, which is good in my area
The only good thing about Vodafone is that they are the only network that doesn't make it a huge faff to obtain a signal box if you need it in your house. |

I've always found O2 and Vodafone to be roughly equal in uselessness no matter where I go, and 3/EE to be the bees knees.
The only good thing about Vodafone is that they are the only network that doesn't make it a huge faff to obtain a signal box if you need it in your house. I can be stood in a road in a very built up area, loads of terraced houses and there's no 3G. I'm only getting Edge. There's no excuse for that nowadays. With Three I always have a 3G signal in built up areas, always. |
