According to the sky website the app contains all sports channels, including F1 and one offs like the ashes channels.

It's no gimmick for me

Currently pay £57 a month for 4Gb allowance
Plus £10 to spotify

=£67

I will take the spotify pack for free from Vodafone and pay the additional £5 for sports.

Will then be paying the same £67 but now for
8Gb allowance
Spotify
Sky sports

I might even get rid of my sky at home as tend to watch must of my sport through sky go anyhow, that will save me over £60 a month.

I think it's a great offer, I almost moved to EE but will stay with Vodafone now.

The Sky Go app is free for Sky customers. Im not sure if Vodafones Sky and Spotify subscription service uses up your allowance, then even 8Gb wouldn't last long. I have a feeling they include it but check anyway.

I never doubted that EE has got better 4G coverage (for now) or 3G coverage compared to Vodafone. My partner is on Vodafone and I personally wouldn't pay a "premium" price for their 3G coverage.
Still doesn't change the fact that Vodafone offers more data for the same price on SIM only. For people who can pick between the two (only London at the beginning) it might be important.
And quoting a price from a different website isn't really a fair comparison. Is there actually a reason why Chitter Chatter is banned on Hotukdeals? (I actually honestly don't know)

Why? its available to anyone. Reason for the hotdeals ban was self promotion, nothing sinister

Because it's not the network itself offering it. I compared Vodafone with EE, not anyone else.

Sky quote a 90 minute game will use 990Mb of data. So that 8Gb wont last long

If you watch pre match and post match commentary you will easily go over 1Gb.

That's why I said it was a Gimmick. It shouldn't be included in your allowance and it says on small print on the site it only includes sky sports 1 and 2. I knew it looked to good to be true. Looking more and more like I will be signing up to EE's 10GB or 20GB.

Rome wasn't built in a day
True, it doesn't seem any of them are pushing it. They could a real corner of the market if they did.

I stream Spotify alot now and never gone over 4Gb.

and when i watch sky sports i will be near a free wifi connection so that's not a problem.

I would have thought most people will go with the Spotify tariff anyhow, that's great value and 8Gb is more than enough.

you can quite easily go on the 4Gb tariff and be fine for Spotify, especially as you can download playlists to the phone you use most often.

edit: never saw the bit about it being just sky sports 1 & 2, will defo be taking the Spotify version and then get the sky app off the play store as its only £5 a month on there including all the sports channels.

He only gets 4Gb extra free data allowance in effect compared to what he did before.

He is still going to have to pay Sky £5 per month to receive all the sky sports channels on his mobile in ditching his whole Sky package.

If he has a wifi router and he's in his house or flat and his mobile is wifi he could save a lot of his data allowance.

McDonald's, Burger King, Asda, Tesco, and cafe nero all offer free mobile while you're in their premies using your mobile. Plus stagecoach and First bus now offer free wifi on the move while watching sport

i had an interesting chat to my future brother in law this morning who is a manager in Vodafone operations and network monitoring team, He has said that unlike EE Vodafone 4G customers will be able to use 4G networks around the world as long as their handset supports the correct 4G bands.

He said that this will work at start from Vodafone branded networks then to other roaming partners with he understands no extra roaming costs above 3G prices as long a 4G customer in the UK.

Hi... That's interesting - would you be able to ask him if he knows when 4g will arrive in Wakefield please? Thank you

Ah Sorry I should have made it clear he meant UK Vodafone customers will be able to use 4G around the work on brnaded networks, there was no mention of foreign networks doing it here as well.

I will ask him about Wakefield when speak next he did say that the rollout is happening fast and says work is going on all over the country in areas not mentioned on the press release.

Hi said Leicestershire where I am based should be live mid Sept but like EE said he expects issues while they retune the network and upgrade equipment.

I wasn't aware that VF were using the Huawei BTS 3900A cabinets....
http://dc146.4shared.com/doc/qR54t5tm/preview.html

Outside London it is likely O2 & VF's roll out will be the same.
In Edinburgh they're using pairs of Ericsson RBS6102 cabinets.

P.S. I like the "Huawei confidential. Confidentiality Level: For Internal use only" on your link...

given the cost of data abroad, especially outside of eu, i'm not surprised by this at all.

Vodaphone 3G is woefully inadequate in London - I can't see 4g being any better
Had Vodafone 4G since 21 October 2013 and have been impressed.

Using mobile feels like using mobile internet at home, you can send emails with chunkier attachments and there's Skype, too.

As of now (Jan 2014), Vodafone 4G seems to be available in around a dozen UK cities. But what will be the roll out for 4G in the remainder of the UK during 2014 ?

As been said many times, the upgrades for 4G are extensive and network-wide, bringing much needed improvements to the poorer 3G networks as well.
