What's the story with the two iTunes bonus tracks? I presume we'll have to pay to download an inferior compressed version of each (or maybe even the whole album) to get them.

There were itune bonus tracks on the series 5 soundtrack as well (Emotions Get the Better of Him" and "Impossible Choice".) The specials soundtrack also had two itunes bonus tracks ("The Cyberleader Runs Amok" and "Never Too Old to Shoot and Fly").

It's pretty common now days for albums to have bonus tracks, just like some stores get exclusive contents on DVD's. Thats life I'm afraid.

Thanks for the info.

It's a particularly galling "business practise" to me. I have only ever bought CDs and ripped them myself into a lossless format (flac) into a Squeezebox system to play around the house. I only use lossy formats for portable devices. CDs are, unfortunately, going the way of VHS.

Anyone else a bit underwhelmed with this release ?. No hard case, just a horrible cardboard one and to me there isn't a single outstanding track on either cd. Nothing to compare with earlier music such as Doomsday, I am The Doctor, strange strange creatures etc. and no title music. Not everyone has all the releases and I would expect the title theme to always be included. If I was a first time buyer of a Doctor Who series soundtrack and the theme was not included I would be very disapointed.

You can download the theme tune from youtube if you go to the Proms 2013 music and use a free program called Youtube Downloader:
http://www.youtube-d.com/

It saves as MP3 if you paste the link in there.

You can also rip it from the show. I agree not being included is annoying but no reason you can't have it if you are resourceful.

I disagree there are no great tracks on it, there's a ton of them, I especially like the Name of the Doctor tracks, and Clara's theme which are just as good as the ones you mention.

Yes I know you can download the theme from loads of places and as I have all the previous soundtrack CDs I didn't miss it on this release. I was merely saying that if I was a first time buyer I would have been disapointed with the theme not being included. As far as great pieces of music go, whereas I can easily recall such tunes as Doomsady, I cannot readily bring to mind any of the music from the latest release.

Definitely going to vary, I can recall a number of tracks without listening to them.

Gunslingers, Cubes, Together or Not at All, Clara, Up The Shard, A Turbulent Flight, Bah Bah Biker, The Long Song, The Speeder, God of Akhaten, Cyber Army, To Save the Doctor, I Am Information (especially towards the close) & Remember Me...

...are all quite memorable to me

Quite sparse from Hide -> Crimson, though.
