Someone tweeted him a few days ago to ask for Shirley to be brought back to the forefront of the show as she's been underused, to which he replied "I utterly agree!"

He also said to Charlie Condou, when congratulated on his new job, "Thank you sir. Watch out Corrie, we're coming to get you. X"

I HOPE BOTH IS TRUE!!!!!!

That last bit made me think DTC knows how shit Enders has been and plans on changing it. A real idea hidden in a tongue in cheek comment.

By keeping Shirley?
Yeah that'll really win EE awards.

Linda is up for an inside soap award but honestly if she did have better storylines then i think linda would have a good chance

I hope he doesn't. Shirley has been poorly used and we can only blame the useless Lorraine Newman. Shoving Shirley into the background and ramming Kirsty down our throats says it all

He created Shirley...personally I think she should be axed.

Sharon has been forced into the background too...

Yeah I guessed too...

Shirley is so great. With the right story, she should be kept.

Yup, and again it's because Lorraine Newman focused far too much on dullards like Kirsty, Alice, Joey and Tyler despite working at EastEnders for 23 years

Tyler was so underused! Well, he wasn't used which was a blessing. Only recently in his exit story.

I loathed Tyler and his daft brother Anthony, they were a pair of muppets. Who created them? Bryan Kirkwood. 'Nuff said.

Ava and Kirsty were liked when they first arrived but now they are hated it seems...

I loved Ava, still find her ok but the introduction of Sam ruined it. Kirsty I have never liked. Maybe that's got something to do with the fact that she's the typical type that Max would knock around with - cheap looking - which hasn't helped his character evolve. He just stays the same pillock.

Linda's a great actress and hopefully he will give her a good storyline.

Good to hear. Linda has been hardly used since the murder reveal. With Gillian leaving it is even more important to keep good actors of this age group who are established characters. I like the guy already *grovel*.

It seems Ms Newman learned absolutely nothing from 23 years at the firm

David Wicks and Shirley - that would be a good pairing

Absolutely! EastEnders bosses claimed the soap would be in safe hands!
