They need to get her away from the downward Phil revenge spiral she's on. They should try and reintroduce some family for her.

I think she is a good actress but I really don't like the character.

Thank god! Shirley is one of the best characters on that show i dont know why she gets so much stick she adds so much dark humour to the show! May she reign for years to come!

Unless she has some family introduced I can't see her with a decent storyline.

Bring Carly back, to take her away again.

For good, this time!

DTC should forget about sentimentality.

While it's likely DTC will want to salvage Shirley there are no guarantees he won't axe her. Plenty of producers have axed characters they created so it's naive to think that will save Shirley. Honestly I don't know why people assume certain characters will be kept on indefintely or never leave of their own accord. Before they departed many people had Pat, Tanya, Zainab, Jean and others down to stick around for another 10 or 20 years.

its because of his tweets. if he thinks shes underused then axing her would be making him a hypocrite wouldnt it?

If the iconic Shirley is axed but the appalling Alice remains then it means the disastrous Kirkwood-Newman eras will live on.

Not necessarily. He might not be able to come up with anything for her. Look at Sharon. Iconic character reduced to a badly written glorified extra.

Maybe she and Sharon should put their differences aside and become lesbian lovers. They'll both finally have a storyline and Vaslav will get the gay couple he's been longing for. Two birds, one stone

Hated Shirley for months and months but bringing back the guy who helped create her could be good.

Doesn't necessarily need axing, she needs a new story. If she gets one and is still crap then you can get rid.

Shes never been crap, her stories might have been but one thing shirl has always been is an interesting character.

And besides when her storylines have been good she has been really popular. Its only in the last year when shes had nothing to do and is bitter people have started hating her

If a character has been interesting ? Then that doesnt make them crap. You can still dislike someone and not think theyre crap.

Shirley's always been crap IMHO. I've never liked any of the storylines she's been in. Pointless character whose only purpose seems to be to snarl at people in every episode. Same as Cora.

Shes hardly been pointless the whole time shes been in it, she was, along with ben the thing that held the mitchell family together and along with heather created lots of different storyline for them. you said pretty much this the other day lol

She wasn't "holding the Mitchell family together" when Phil jumped into bed with his Aunt Glenda, was she?

that is getting really old. Even though he still dumped glenda &proposed to shirl. You never use the phil chucked sharon out line. I love that he did that to sharon and not shirl

I didn't say that, but she has been pointless for most of her time on the show IMO. She came into the show as the long-lost mother of Carly and Deano and build a relationship with them. Instead, she spent more time trying to cause trouble between Kevin and Denise - which got tedious really quickly. When her kids left, she became Phil Mitchell's "girl" (more like his bulldog ) and became nothing more than a Mitchell wannabe. Now she just wonders around the Square being nasty to people and being a pest to Phil. Like I said, pointless.

BIB: Did I? I challenge you to locate the thread where I said that . I'm sure I would remember saying that. She did hold the family together when Peggy left and Phil relied on her to do that - I do agree with that, but she offered nothing in terms of storylines.
