Fried, in olive oil with some chilli flakes.
Served with a squeeze of lemon or lime. I used to put it on kebabs, with any combination of chicken, chorizo, red/green pepper and red onion. I'd put a cube of it on the end of the skewer. However, the cube kept rupturing and would never stay on the end. |

On the BBQ until it's nice and crispy on the outside.

Definitely on the BBQ - suits kebabs (as in peppers, courgettes and mushrooms) perfectly.
Also lovely with pitta bread, lettuce and tomatoes |

Griddled. In a toasted wholemeal pitta with houmous and a Greek salad of tomato, cucumber, red onion, olives and olive oil. It's a staple meal in our house.

I like Halloumi, is it healthy? Tastes salty but surely naturally occuring (if thats what it is) saltiness cant be so bad?

Griddled, with Delia's caper sauce! Although I have to leave the oil out of mine as it would be too much fat for my diet - so I add all the same ingredients to a Tesco's chimichuri (sp?) sauce - tastes authentic with far less calories.

Tried it for the first time last week, think it was fried - meh, I was chewing, waiting for the flavour to hit me.
It never happened...

Great point. Our local Indian Restaurant does lovely Muthi Paneer as a side order. Haloumi is just ghastly.
