TV has no scart, how to connect DVD player?

Hello all,

I am wondering how I can connect my TV to my DVD player as my TV doesn't have a scart socket only a hdmi socket and my DVD Player has no hdmi socket but has a scart socket?? any advice appreciated.

There is also only one hdmi socket on the tv, is there some kind of device I can put into it which will make there be about 3 hdmi sockets as I have more than just the DVD player I want to plug into the HDMI socket.

Make and model of TV would help.

Very odd TV with no SCART and only a single HDMI. You sure it's not a computer monitor?

If the TV really does not have any sort of analogue input you will either need to buy a disk player with HDMI or an analogue to digital converter (the former may well be cheaper!), And if there is only a single HDMI you can but switches to expand the number of HDMI inputs if necessary.

Does the tv have phono sockets (red, white and yellow). I so you could connect the DVD using this.

OK so get a SCART to Composite Video and Stereo audio lead such as this

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hama-Phono-S.../dp/B00006JCXU

and use that to connect the DVD player to the red, white and yellow sockets on the back of the TV.

Take a photo of the wire and post it on an image sharing site and link to it here and maybe we can identify it.

Very unlikely to be a TV aerial though.

User manual here

Refer to page 15 which states:
"Use a included SCART adapter cable to connect
between the TV’s SCART input socket and a SCART
cable to an external AV device’s SCART output socket."

Yes, as expected (thanks mac2708) the TV does have a SCART socket, as with most modern sets it's via a special adaptor lead supplied with the TV.
