I've been surprised by the recent comments about his time in the show.
Does everyone really think he was that bad?

He wasn't great! But i liked Eddie way more than the boring and hugely overrated Alfie, and Essex is also a far better and more charismatic actor than Richie will ever be!

I saw David a number of times live, in concert, and he was phenomenal!! So when I heard he was to be in EE, I was excited to see him.

But it was dreadful. He looked and sounded bland, his storylines were boring...he wasn't the charismatic David he is on stage. I think that's when I knew for sure EE was shit.

He was complete and utter garbage! He should have been played by a decent actor who could commit to the role longer for 3 bloody months!

For me the time around when Eddie arrived was the time that EastEnders started going through the bad patch that we're still seeing today.

I really liked him and I'd love to see him back. He was the only decent addition to the Moon family.

For me the timing was off, what could have been a really good storyline was badly paced and done in such a rush also the fact the Yusef plot had so many mirrored scenes and was running at the same time as the Eddie/Michael plot took the shine of it a bit and the Yusef plot as well. Very poor.

Sorry JR, but that's a rather ignorant comment!

I'm by no means a fan of Essex's acting or music, but the facts speak for themselves!
He's had a very varied and successful stage and screen career spanning over four decades.
That must count for something!

Was it??? Because i didnt think it was he didnt do it for me everything about him was extremely wooden i'm no fan of his music as well as his acting!

The fact is they ****ed up with Eddie it was purely a stunt casting in a desperate bid to get in a few extra viewers!

I found it unrealistic that Carol fancied him as he was a lot older than her, and they didn't seem to have any chemistry.

Carol fancies anything, she's not picky about age/race/religion. Male? Yes Pulse? Sure thing, she's on it.

This.

From what I remember, Carol was a royal pain in the a**e when Eddie was still around. She was a complete bitch to Vanessa for no reason other than the fact that she (Vanessa) was angry that Max had cheated on her with Tanya. So I wasn't particularly sympathetic when Michael manipulated the situation between her and Eddie by throwing Vanessa into the equation, and Carol got her heart broken.

As for Eddie...David Essex wasn't the strongest of actors but I liked the character in general. He really was Michael + however many years. Many thought of him as a nice bloke but you could tell from early on exactly how dark he could be - threatening Jean, getting Michael beaten up by Jack.

She was horrible to Vanessa considering what she had been put through by Max, definitely not one of Carol's better moments but I was very glad when Eddie caught in the act.

Me laughing at her tripping up in the Square as David drove away was totally justified then

What if David & Carol are just like Max & Tanya? I'm scared of what the writers will do

ahahaha, that was so funny and that time when Carol was rejected for Bitchyesha. The woman on the square can be so pathetic, I was thinking about this earlier and the teen girls have swapped partners quite a bit.

Tyler: slept with Whitney, Lauren & fooled about with Lucy.
Joey: slept with Whitney, Lauren & Lucy.
Peter: Been out with Whitney & Lauren will probably sleep with them at some point.
I wonder who Jake Stone will go for after Lauren or will he turn out to be her Rock?

Good call Yup, and the blokes aren't much better either. Even Anthony, useless as he was with women....or people in general...managed to cause problems between Poppy and Jodie.

As for Jake, I can see it all now: he'll move on to Whitney, then Lucy, then reconcile with Lauren; rinse and repeat

Eddie Moon was such a non-entity. I have no problem with David Essex but the character was just so blaaah. I honestly can't imagine a less interesting character.

It runs in the Jackson family. Whitney, Carol and Bianca.

Bianca, though, has calmed down a bit in her since she returned to the show. But she was a sexual monster in her younger days, shagging her mum's boyfriend at the time, Dan Sullivan . Even tried it on with her own dad at one point!

Haha Yup, can't say I blame Carol for being pissed with her for so long. I always laugh at Bianca's "it's always about Dan!" remark - well, yes, you slept with your mum's boyfriend!

Appalling character played by a wooden actor. May he never set foot in Walford again.

Agreed. Bianca seems to think it wasn't a big deal . But then history was repeated when Whitney slept with Biacna's boyfriend, Tony. That always felt like more of an affair storyline than a story about pedophilia to me. The way it was written I mean. Hence why I wasn't a huge fan of it.

I'm sure Whitney's future daughter will carry on the proud tradition in the Jackson family to sleep with your mum's boyfriends.

It was disjointed in parts but I quite liked the reveal, great acting from all involved.

Tyler returns to Walford in 2035 and ends up sleeping with Britney Dean Let's just hope Joey isn't the daddy - Chewie should not be allowed to procreate!

Yeah, the reveal and aftermath was great with Bianca trying to convince Whitney what Tony did was wrong and everything else that followed. It was the stuff before the reveal that I found rather strange.

Britney Dean, I like it.
Well, if Whitney's daughter ends up spouting unintelligble speech with a gaping mouth - then we'll know Chewbacca is the father .
Yes, last thing we need is MORE Branning babies!

It was a great shame David Essex couldn't commit to EastEnders permanently, even if he did have to take the odd break for other work. Other cast members do it.

BIB - She was probobaly trying to balance out the average age of her lovers after Connor lowered it so much
