I just checked and I think the non-white population is more around 7% rather than the 12% that I said earlier.

i don't think we've condemned the person using the word coloured, mostly people have pointed out that the term is redundant and have explained why...... thats not condemming, thats communicating

I believe the acceptable term in the US now is people of colour.

The above were within the first 10 posts of your opening post, including mine, all basically saying the same thing in relation to the thread title.

You were abundantly and suitably informed to remove "coloured" from the title before it was too late. You did not do so.

"as you could have seen if you wouldn't just try to troll me."

Why did you feel the need to refer to me as trolling you when you did not do so with others, just because I asked questions you cannot answer?

"Wild accusations "
As for your claims of wild accusations, it is worthy to note others believe you deliberately inserted "coloured" to generate anger and post counts

You refused to answer the question regarding what changed your mind about removing "coloured". Could it be because of anything we have been saying?

Get your husband to use the internet and read up about how people were categorised and stigmatised according to their skin colour : one category being coloured.

Or perhaps he should read about segregation in the 60s in America where there were special drinking fountains for Coloureds Only so that they could not contaminate Whites Only drinking fountains with their melanin.

I assume your husband does not know the social history of this country either, about a time not so long ago when notices were put into the windows of boarding houses declaring No Coloureds and No Dogs.

When your husband has finishing reading up on the subject, I hope he understands why coloured is such a highly provocative term when used by someone who does not consider the term as applying to themselves.

I assume your husband has no black or asian friends, otherwise they would have had a quiet word with him about just how offensive he must appear to others.”

Why so hostile?

Many people use different terminology to discribe different people.

When was the last time you saw a sign in any window saying 'No Coloureds, No Dogs'? Your post says 'not so long ago'. If this is true you should be able to say when (if only approx).

All the time people keep going on about racism, then there will be racism. I, for one, look forward to the day when people do not see a colour but a person. Being black myself, I have encounted many forms of racism over many years. It's not what people say, it's how they say it. We're not stupid and we are quite able to judge for ourselves if something or someone is being offensive or not. We do not need to be told what we should be offended by. The original poster did not mean anything by what was written, that was obvious. Some of the replies have been more offensive than the original post.

My oh my - a mass debate!

Everyone knows that the correct name for a black person is a "brother" or a "bro". A female can be referred to as a "bitch" or a "Ho". As approved by Ali G.

Hope this helps.

How did you know that? Are you able to read his mind?

"Some of the replies have been more offensive than the original post"

Which ones?

It also implies that even you admit that the original post is offensive.

If the intent was "obvious" as 40-40J's suggested, you wouldn't have to be a "mind reader".

Good points. The BBC documentary What Ron Said would also be my recommendation for this FM's husband.

You have now progressed to answering for others, substituting your opinions for those of the intended. Where is the debate?

Wow!
