Just watched Tuesday's EE, was Lauren's rehab abroad or something?
No, Jac Jossa just went to Mexico with friends and the wardrobe and make up department couldn't be bothered to disguise that fact
She's presumably been lying on a beach in Cornwall for the last month or so. Perhaps she just tans easily. I'm usually pasty white and I have a tan this summer just from being around London so it isn't completely impossible.

Where you in intense inpatient detox from alcohol therapy though? Detox part the last thing your doing is being out and about. You wouldn't be up to it. Either you go cold turkey and suffer with withdrawals (and she as at the stage as we saw were she was) or they give you drugs to cope with it as some inpatients can have. These drugs are sedating. And with her liver being affected she would be very photo sensitive right now and be more likely to burn.

If that's the case why bother with any research into anything and actors shouldn't bother learning their lines.
One of modern EEs biggest issues is they research nothing. And forget that when done well and realistic not only does it make good television but can be positive too.
Mark Fowler being HIV + and his wife Gill dying of AIDS was a fantastic example of this. More people in the UK got a test that year then ever before. It got people talking about it, how it is spread and things you can do to minimise risk.
I understand JJ might not be up to such storytelling but nobody comes back from intensive inpatient detox like that. Even if it was baking hot if she didn't have sun protection that stopped her skin getting damaged (and tanning is damage) then she would have burned due to be photo sensitive. Nor does even the top places care about hair extensions either.

Of course EE need to do there research but little things like a tan should be ignored, I'd understand if Lauren had been in a coma for weeks but I'm sure rehab centres have gardens and with the way the weather has been I'd say its not totally unrealistic that Lauren spent her time sunbathing

Lucky old BBC then that the weather cheered up since they actually filmed this - otherwise it would have looked very unrealistic.
I think the make-up department should have made her look paler. She doesn't look like someone a third of the way through a three-month rehab treatment.
In the real world, at this stage she would only just about be allowed telephone contact with her relatives, not be allowed to check herself out and return to the scene of her addiction and easy access to boooze - especially when sharing a home with a seasoned alcoholic like Cora.
This is another re-hash of the badly mismanaged Tanya cancer-cold scenario. Lauren should have been off-screen for three months at the very least.

She has liver damage and would be photo sensitive. Hence the jaundice she suffered before she left.
You do realise when you have that your skin burns?
I am an Italian and who tans easily and much easily than she would. If I had photo sensitivity I would burn as well. Takes a long time for that to go.
So if anything your explanation reinforces why it is silly. If she has been sunbathing (and her doctors allowed this knowing she had jaundice brought on by Hep A and liver damage they would be struck off). She wouldn't even be allowed to on a sunbed.
I guess the salon I mean clinic also deemed it right to get her hair extensions as well.
